I need a new laptop (and your help).

I recently lost my «Framework Laptop 13» (Intel 12th Gen i7, 64GB RAM) on the train. It never reappeared, although it was left in a train heading for the depot. (Was it stolen by the cleaning personal?)

Now I need a new device.

I'm not really keen on getting another Framework device because of their «Big Tent» approach (and supporting far-right activists without regretting it), even though they have really nice hardware. Looking at you, @frameworkcomputer.

The new device should have about the same specs as the old one: a recent CPU, at least 64 GB of memory, be around the same size and weight as the «Framework 13», be easily repairable and upgradable. It will run Fedora. An open firmware would be a plus.

Is there anything out like this?

I'm thinking about getting a Tuxedo laptop (@tuxedocomputers), but I’m not entirely sure if it's the best fit. Does anyone have suggestions for a device that meets these criteria.

What are your suggestions? Thanks for any hints.

Lilbits: Flipper Zero’s firmware future, a new Linux gaming laptop, an E Ink monitor, and AMD’s pricey Ryzen Halo mini PC

Shortly after launching a new thin and light Linux laptop with an Intel Panther Lake processor, Linux PC company System76 is preparing to launch… another notebook that could be described the same way.

But the updated System76 Adder Pro also packs features like discrete graphics and an OLED display with a high refresh rate, which means that it’ll both be a better fit for gaming or mobile […]

The new System76 Adder Pro is an upcoming 3.4 pound gaming laptop (or mobile workstation) with a 15.3 inch 2.5K, 165 Hz OLED display, a Core Ultra 7 356H processor, and up to RTX 5070 graphics and 96GB RAM. Oh, and it ships with Linux. https://system76.com/adder-pro-teaser/ #LinuxLaptop #System76 #System76AdderPro

🔹 Autonomie fenomenală a bateriei:

System76 Lemur Pro Linux laptop refresh brings Intel Panther Lake and two screen sizes: 14 or 16 inches

The System76 Lemur Pro is a thin and light Linux laptop that’s been around in one form or another for about six years. But this year System76 is bringing the biggest updates to its little laptop yet… in more ways than one.

First of all, the newest version of the notebook is powered by an Intel Panther Lake processor, with support for up to an Intel Core Ultra X7 358H chip, which should […]

Kubuntu Focus Ar (GEN 1) is a Linux Laptop with Intel Panther Lake and Arc B390 graphics

The Kubuntu Focus Ar GEN 1 is the first Linux laptop from the Kubuntu Focus team to feature an Intel Panther Lake processor that delivers the kind of graphics performance you’d expect from an entry-level discrete GPU.

While there are several other Kubuntu Focus models that do have even higher-performance discrete graphics, those models are bigger, heavier, and less efficient. They also have […]

Several Kubuntu Focus Linux laptops are now available with Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus chips (bringing a small spec bump over the Core Ultra 9 275HX that had been available since last year). #KubuntuFocus #KubuntuFocusM2 #KubuntuFocusZr #LinuxLaptop https://mastodon.social/@kubuntufocus/116795297670583049
