I removed all #whonix #Qubes, all now seems well.

I love #Qubes, it is my desktop of choice. It's just #whonix updates never work. Now I'm trying to update dom0, the whonix updates just hang.

#Whonix is a pretty good OS, the only thing I don't like is that when I run it through #qemu/#kvm, with virt-manager, it feels like a remote desktop over wifi. Probably a hardware issue (as in my pc isnt that great).

I was going to have a little side quest and try Whonix, which is known to be a privacy focused distro that can be run in VirtualBox. However, I ran into trouble, that can be fixed by reading some documentation (it was related to adding additional kernel components). However, I'll do that later on because learning should be my priority. Before focus solidifies, I often need these little diversions to get my brain locked in.

#whonix version 18 is broken for me with virtualbox.
Can't set the right keyboard layout - there is an entry complaining about that for ch_fr or fr_ch in the forum - and copy/paste on Virtualbox does no longer work.
I'll remove Whonix 17 but I don't understand why the latest and greatest #wayland was chosen but is not really usable.
Obviously, there will be no solution in the foreseeable future for virtualbox and depending on it was a mistake !

Tylor gets up in the morning and decides to write age verification code that he himself calls "hilariously pointless and ineffective", within a week strikes 4 repos off his list, and i bet the Linux Kernel is going to be next (I'm joking... mostly)

It's worth noting that the first people who approved the PR on systemd repo are 2 big tech employees - Mircoslop and Redhat/IBM (why I'm i not surprised!!), someone then opened a revert PR, Lennart Poettering (systemd creator) closed it.. thus blocking the removal

And this is why you now have Liberated Systemd, a fork of systemd without Age verification.. which IS 'hilariously pointless and ineffective' at saving children

I love using Debian. I think it is so interesting that so many distros have been or currently are based on Debian. While I prefer vanillia Debian, I wanted to list all of the Debian based distros (non-Ubuntu) I know of and categorize them based on what makes them unique.

Daily Drivers (Ease of use):

LMDE - Linux Mint + Debian, no Ubuntu, Mint polish
MX Linux - MXTools is helpful
Deepin - Beautiful, preconfigured desktop, from China.
Peppermint_OS – Lightweight, cloud integrated, snappy
Neptune - Polished KDE Plasma on stable Debian w/newer kernels.
SpiralLinux – Pure Debian with modern defaults (Btrfs, ZRAM).
SolydXK – Simplified XFCE/KDE desktops for stability.
Lingmo OS / Mauna Linux / Br OS - Recent, beautiful desktops (China/Brazil)

Modern/Atomic (Immutable):

Vanilla OS - Atomic updates, can run Fedora/Arch apps via Apx.
blendOS - Atomic, lets you choose DE (KDE, XFCE, etc), can install applications from other Linux distros.
Nitrux - Immutable, no systemd (OpenRC), Maui shell, immutable, heavy reliance on AppImage
