  1. VK3D es lo que permite a Proton traducir Direct3D 12 a Vulkan.

    Recientemente han publicado la versión 3.0 con una serie de cambios muy importantes que tienen como resultado tanto la mejora de rendimiento como la compatibilidad.

    Dentro de los cambios vamos a destacar la reescritura del backend de DXBC que afecta a los shaders. Gracias a esto se arreglan un montón de juegos como por ejemplo el render D3D12 de Red Dead Redemption 2.

  2. Me meto por el culo la maravilla que es #dxvk (gracias a Philip Rebohle y demás) y el "fork" #vkd3d de Hans-Kristian Arntzen (y demás, claro) que obran el milagro de pasar las llamadas de #Direct3D 8, 9, 10, 11 y 12 a @vulkan.

  3. También leyendo guías de optimización en #Steam veo que un truco *muy* extendido es usar @vulkan. Hay un huevo de gente en Windows usando #dxvk o #vkd3d. ¡Qué te follen #Direct3D!

  5. Just look at recent performance updates to the #Linux kernel over recent cycles. Almost every Linux kernel improves the gaming software stack to improve performance. Over that same time, software such as #ProtonLinux #DXVK #VKD3D #Wine is updated to improve performance.

    There is a reason why #Valve and other companies are investing a lot of resources into Linux

  6. Currently, 95% of the massive #Steam library is playable on Linux (and if you try a game and it doesn't work, it's most likely because of an invasive kernel-mode anticheat). Who would have guessed this 10 years ago? Huge thanks to #ValveSoftware, #Wine, #DXVK, #VKD3D projects and everyone involved in this #OpenSource miracle!

  11. Okay, so for the record, I tried a bunch of things to get #GuildWars2 to work on #NVIDIA:

    - Installing #Nouveau to use #Gallium9 caused a lot of problems (like no 144 Hz) with no noticable improvement.
    - Installing #VKD3D #Proton didn't do anything as #GW2 is #DX11
    - Installing #DXVK made the launcher crash "Coherent GPU process crashed"
    - Simply launching the game through #Steam magically worked. ✨

    Seriously, what black magic is #Valve doing? Is #Wine even relevant anymore? #GamingOnLinux

  15. The new Rlden Ring 1.09 ray tracing works on Linux pretty easily. Does require a few flags to be set in vkd3d. Effects are subtle at best, mostly the foliage, cloth, etc gets better self shading. It's easier to see in a screenshot than video with youtube's compression down to 1080p.
