I will never understand why so many activists still use generative images for their content, and rely on big tech for communications and organizations when there are now so many practical, more secure, and much more ethical alternatives.
Your principles aren't just to be stated, they must also be embodied and integrated in your work.
We must show by example what can be done with ethical tech and ethical practices.

Amerikas FTC untersteht nach dem Supreme-Court-Urteil vom 26.06.2026 nun den direkten (politischen) Weisungen des US-Präsidenten. Damit entfällt die rechtliche Argumentation, wonach die FTC unabhängig sei. Das war aber die Grundlage für den Datenexport in die USA nach dem EU-US-Datenschutzrahmen (Data Privacy Framework).

My principles are very straightforward:
1. Transparency is of utmost importance. This doesn't mean you have to make your entire life an open book. It just means being honest and authentic.
2. Mass surveillance is a violation of our civil liberties. In relation to the first point, "nothing to hide" doesn't mean "everything to see."
3. In relation to point two, I am completely against government and corporate overreach. That doesn't mean I am anti-civilization or anti-government. I am very much pro-security but I am also a supporter of limited government and civil rights.
4. Nuance matters. Reference my first three points made.
My opinions are subject to change granted I am presented with evidence to logically form a new conclusion.
I am empathetic but I have also seen and experienced a lot of manipulation. I am not quick to give anything I see or read on the internet validity. The data is the only thing that matters in this world; talk is cheap, show me the code. :pixel_skull:

There's a reasonable version of my concerns, like privacy, corporate overreach, and government overreach. These are all legitimate things to push back on. But Mastodon's culture tends to attract people who've taken those valid critiques and sprinted past any nuance into "all structure is oppression."
Caring about privacy and decentralization doesn't require believing civilization is a scam. You can use Linux, GrapheneOS, etc. and still think borders serve a functional purpose. In fact, aren't these tools just borders for the internet? Those aren't contradictory positions.
I came here in good faith and I'm getting blocked for not being "pure" enough. The anti-authoritarian crowd enforcing ideological conformity is a special kind of irony.

.... aaaaaaaaaaand done :3 Was a ton of work (espc fixing repo links, permissions, uploading, deprecating the npmjs.com entry and so on), but it's over! So happy to got it moved so smoothly.
Now I need to think about how long before starting deletion of lesser used packages, since I dont really want npmjs to host the data any longer than neccessary....
