🐧 Tuxedo OS deschide testarea beta pentru o versiune bazată pe Debian!
Echipa de la Tuxedo Computers a lansat prima versiune Open Beta a sistemului de operare Tuxedo OS bazată pe Debian, făcând un pas strategic important prin diversificarea bazei tehnologice a distribuției lor.
Până acum, Tuxedo OS s-a bazat exclusiv pe Ubuntu. Noua versiune experimentală își mută fundația direct pe Debian, aducând mai multă stabilitate, o amprentă mai mică de resurse și eliminând dependențele implicite de pachete Snap în favoarea arhitecturii tradiționale .deb și a aplicațiilor Flatpak.
✨ Principalele noutăți din Tuxedo OS (Debian Beta):
🏛️ Bază pură Debian:
• Oferă stabilitatea recunoscută a proiectului Debian, menținând în același timp nucleul (kernel) recent și driverele optimizate pentru hardware-ul TUXEDO (laptopuri și sisteme dedicate).🎨 Mediul de desktop KDE Plasma modernizat:
• Păstrează experiența vizuală familiară bazată pe KDE Plasma, completată de suita de utilitare proprii TUXEDO (cum ar fi TUXEDO Control Center pentru gestionarea profilurilor de energie, ventilator și performanță).📦 Fără pachete Snap preinstalate:
• Sistemul este configurat implicit fără modulul snapd, punând accent pe pachetele native din depozitele Debian și pe integrarea ecosistemului Flatpak/Flathub.🛠️ Cine poate testa versiunea Beta?
Imaginea ISO pentru instalare este disponibilă public pentru testare. Echipa TUXEDO recomandă instalarea pe medii secundare sau în mașini virtuale, deoarece este o versiune aflată în plină etapă de dezvoltare (beta testing) și este destinată colectării de feedback din partea comunității.
O mișcare interesantă care oferă o alternativă excelentă bazată pe Debian pentru utilizatorii care își doresc un desktop KDE extrem de bine finisat! 🚀

@lukasrotermund @drew @bms @kevin I have been looking at #TuxedoComputers laptops, they seem to have a very nice selection, excellent Linux support, better warranty and better prices than Framework. Also EU-based. Not sure about repairabiry. Still - probably my next laptop will be from them.

I need a new laptop (and your help).
I recently lost my «Framework Laptop 13» (Intel 12th Gen i7, 64GB RAM) on the train. It never reappeared, although it was left in a train heading for the depot. (Was it stolen by the cleaning personal?)
Now I need a new device.
I'm not really keen on getting another Framework device because of their «Big Tent» approach (and supporting far-right activists without regretting it), even though they have really nice hardware. Looking at you, @frameworkcomputer.
The new device should have about the same specs as the old one: a recent CPU, at least 64 GB of memory, be around the same size and weight as the «Framework 13», be easily repairable and upgradable. It will run Fedora. An open firmware would be a plus.
Is there anything out like this?
I'm thinking about getting a Tuxedo laptop (@tuxedocomputers), but I’m not entirely sure if it's the best fit. Does anyone have suggestions for a device that meets these criteria.
What are your suggestions? Thanks for any hints.

Gestern einen neuen Laptop bestellt. Ursprünglich hab ich wegen einem #Thinkpad überlegt, hab mich dann aber doch für ein InfinityBook von @tuxedocomputers entschieden. Wird ja sowieso nur #Linux drauf laufen, da kann ich gleich Hersteller supporten die Linux als Fokus haben :)
Außerdem kommt der mit einem Tux statt Windows Symbol auf der Super-Taste 🥰

After some successful tests of running Debian13 with a backport 6.17.x kernel on my Tuxedo desktop system, it was time to try this on the Tuxedo laptop too.
The Tuxedo Infinitybook has a keyboard issue which apparently should be fixed in the 6.17.x en newer kernels. Getting that installed on Zorin proved more involved then anticipated.
So I now installed Debian 13 and will see how this works over the next weeks.

Would be nice if Tuxedo could notify about these issues on mastodon too. Already sent an email to them but that was 8 hours after they had first acknowledged the issue on reddit.
I understand that it's sunday but just an acknowledgement would be appreciated.
