"The Arlington County Police Department is asking for the public’s help in investigating dozens of traffic signs vandalized with anti-fascist graffiti.
The wave of vandalism incidents, many of which involve the word 'fascism' written under the word 'stop,' has been going on for months — at a significant cost to taxpayers, according to local officials.
Since Jan. 1, the Department of Environmental Service has replaced around 60 signs because of graffiti, county spokesperson Katie O’Brien told ARLnow. Each replacement costs around $250, not including labor.
'Because of the reflective coating on the signs, paint cannot be removed without likely causing damage,' O’Brien said.
In total, the county has received around 70 reports of vandalized signs this year, many concentrated in the Tara-Leeway Heights neighborhood. That number is up significantly from 15 vandalism incidents in 2024 and 10 in 2023.
ACPD has also received reports for vandalism in the Westover, Bluemont and Highland Park-Overlee Knolls neighborhoods, police spokesperson Ashley Savage told ARLnow.
One tipster told ARLnow that he has documented over 100 vandalized signs in recent months, including no parking signs, speed hump signs and speed limit signs in addition to stop signs.
In some instances, he said he has seen the county replace signs, only for the vandal to strike again."

He was pushed through a plateglass shopfront on Gardener’s Corner by the Blackshirts. Covered in blood, he stormed up to the family flat, where, upon seeing him, Bubbe Annie decided to break her cardinal rule of keeping her head down and joined the barricade at the entrance of Cable Street, where Mosley and his militia intended to march through to the meeting point for their rally.
Bubbe Annie said that day was the best of being British. She didn’t stand alone on that barricade of overturned milkfloats, chairs piled high – and anything else that could stop the marchers. Her Irish working-class neighbours, the English working class, the small African-Caribbean community, the dockers, the trade unionists, communists, a handful of Somali seamen, Orthodox Jews with long coats and soft felt hats, jostled side by side with Catholics, women and girls linking arms, and ordinary heroes from all over the country who had travelled down to stand in solidarity and tell the fascists 'you shall not pass'. And they did not pass. Mosley and his de facto private army with huge police protection were stopped in their tracks and forced to retreat."

I’ve played this 5x in the last two days. It scratches a black metal itch I can’t describe ha. It’s also anti-fascist blackened death so extra points. A bit gritty, quite sinister, raspy high register vocals that are intelligible. Low-mid tempo. Catchy. Really like the vocals and rhythm here.
