Any other writers on here have a nemesis word? One of the very first critiques of one of my earliest stories told me that I overused the word “that.” Since this time, I’ve run the find command,, looking for it, on my editing pass of every first draft I’ve written. I'm writing a story now where, once again, I found I’d used it four times in three sentences.
