At this point in the year, I'm usually finishing up the rewrite process, getting ready to format and publish my new book. Now, with a different job that demands more of my time, that's not the case. I have seven chapters of my first draft so far. The seventh isn't even finished. Whereas I used to be able to pen 5,000 words a week, sometimes I can barely get through 250. Life sucks, because it's never what you need, and when what you need finally arrived, the need for it is well past. Gershwin summed it up best when he said, "When you want 'em, you can't get 'em. When you got 'em, you don't want 'em."

But I will keep writing. Despite everything that life throws at me, I will have a finished product at some point. And maybe, maybe, maybe, I will have found an audience that likes to read at that point.

That being said, I kind of want to write a #romance story in my new #grimdark setting.

But I'm not sure how good of a idea that'd be. Since the best ending I could offer them would be Happy For Now.

I couldn't in good conscience give them a HEA. Unless they meet again in the after life, but that just sounds like it'd piss off readers haha

Or do I just go for that general fiction tragedy ending? It wouldn't count as romance then though.
