Históricamente, por tomar un ejemplo de la historia de EE.UU., las mujeres negras no fueron reconocidas como “auténticas mujeres” porque eran demasiado directas, estaban demasiado enfadadas, no eran lo suficientemente sumisas. Por eso, en el culto a la “verdadera feminidad” del siglo XIX, esta “verdadera feminidad” era blanca, estaba asociada a la clase media, etc.
No reconocer la heterogeneidad del género —cisgénero, transgénero, género fluido, género no conforme, etc— nos desarma, nos impide cuestionar las violencias que, en última instancia, nos afectan a todes. Las mujeres trans negras, al menos en EE.UU., son el objetivo más constante de la violencia: violencia individual, violencia ejercida por desconocidos, violencia íntima, violencia de pareja, así como violencia institucional, violencia estatal, violencia policial, violencia carcelaria (…).
