Am always surprised when people have a whine about Melbourne weather. The winter light is magic here. Our apartment faces the wrong way so we have to get out to catch the sunshine. Worth the walk.

This is a great watch for anyone interested in urbanism in naarm. Great to see that at least some of the car brained bullshit didn't happen (check out the St Kilda intersection at about 14 minutes)

I live next to a nice rail trail. It's the Lilydale to Warburton trail. I enjoy riding along it.
I'd like to ride along it with some people I could regularly talk to.
How do I find such people?

Despite the pelting rain and winds worthy of a marine weather warning, the Melbourne launch of The Boy Maeve went ahead at The Little Bookroom and it was wonderful! My mother had to duck out due to a cold, but my father (who took these photos) was ready to jump in and present with me in her stead - thanks Dad!

The oranges and lemons are out and the winter cold wet is well and truly here. Having re-aclimatised to Brisbane over the past few months, it's a bit of a shock to the system. But the oranges taste delicious.

So the scuttlebutt at the dog park was that the fire last night at Off Track Cycles in Brunswick was an arson attack. I saw it on my ride home and was hoping it wasn't off-track or the charity next door. I mean I could understand if it was one of those carbon-fiber lycra loony places where they flog overpriced road bikes to mamils, but I can't see why anyone would want to firebomb a shop known for good repairs and selling reliable bike gear for commuters and bikepackers.
Of course there is just the tiniest chance that dog park randos are leaping to conclusions.

Tonight I'll be lucky enough to see the incomparable Mogwai playing at the Forum in Melbourne. A top-notch band at a top-notch venue with some top-notch company, and it'll be the 6th time I've seen them. Well done to them for ticking off 30 years.
Snuck a peek at the band's setlist where they played at the Sydney Opera House over the weekend and if we get anything similar to that I'll be a very happy chappy.
