HANTAVIRUS AND ANDES VIRUS 101
As a trained medical professional, I feel the need to inform and raise awareness of the latest MV Hondius (cruise ship) hantavirus outbreak in early May 2026.
Here is a quick rundown of facts about hantavirus in general...

#BurgeonLab #WeekNotes 026 is back after missing a week!
2026: Week 19/52 (May 4 – May 10)➡️ https://burgeonlab.com/weeknotes/2026/w19/
Lots of links in the Link Roundup, updated my changelog to reflect latest updates (it was very neglected for the last 3 months), and trying to figure out how to fix my Git mistake.

Weeknote 2026-W18 is cancelled due to illness, plus my Mac is also "sick" with memory corruption issues.

The Dictionary on M1 Mac crashed twice. I ran Disk Utility and my data volume dev/rdisk3s1 was 'found to be corrupt and needs to be repaired'. The log says 'performing deferred repairs', 'it appears to be OK'. But when I run it again the same corrupt message reappears. 😔 In recovery mode, tried running fsck_apfs but can't do anything: 'failed to enable crypto I/O mode for container /dev/rdisk3s1: invalid argument'. Will try turning off fire fault. #Mac #AskFedi #troubleshooting #fsck #apfs

Sigh. I am sad SourceHut keeps getting attacked. I do enjoy using them as my main Git repo/CI tool. Hope the team can fix the DDoS soon.

I worked on a new feat on my blog #BurgeonLab: a #XSL stylesheet for XML content (#rss #atom #feeds). It was easy in #Hugo—just a `static/style.xsl` and add `{{- printf "<?xml-stylesheet href=\"/style.xsl\" type=\"text/xsl\"?>" | safeHTML -}}`.

Still working on the theme, might match it to my exisiting https://burgeonlab.com/guestbook/ style or keep this terminal theme! Kinda cool and much better looking than raw #xml

I have migrated to #Floorp and #Librewolf for quite a long time already, but never got round to uninstalling #Firefox. I just did! 🍾
It did leave behind more than what the docs (http://mzl.la/1xKrDkl) say.
Using `find ~ -name "*firefox*"`, I found the rest of the files and deleted them.

I use #mermaidjs diagrams sometimes on my Hugo blog. It came with the theme I had so I learnt to use it. I am not sure when/what caused all my diagrams to all fail on the live site (I just noticed it). I couldn't fix it quickly, so I resorted to using their latest ESM JS via CDN for now.
<https://github.com/mermaid-js/mermaid/releases/tag/mermaid%4011.14.0>
I always try to serve resources locally, but there are lots of chunk files? I'm not familiar with #Javascript and #ESM

Another day, another service down/disrupted. My #Indiekit is hosted on Render's free tier (I'm looking to switch tbh but haven't gotten time yet).
It's down and I can't access my Indiekit NodeJS server 😓
PS. #SourceHut is still not back up. 😓

My blog #BurgeonLab relies on #SourceHut Git and Builds. They’ve been down and at first I couldn’t deploy my site to my static host, #Bunnynet.
This triggered me to create a local script that runs all the fetch/build steps as an alternative pathway to upload...

After discovering #TiddlyWiki from @jbaty, I went ahead to give #FeatherWiki (lightweight TW fork) a spin as a personal #braindump bin. I really like how it’s just a HTML file at 58kb!
Using #Android, it failed due to Android Storage Access Framework (#SAF) limitations. I ended using the amazing #Termux once again to run #Busybox #httpd, automate the whole process of opening, serving & saving back to my…

Made my first little contribution to @gohugoio documentation yesterday! It's about installing #dartsass in the CI workflow on #Sourcehut Builds, which I'm using to deploy my Hugo site to my static host of choice: Bunny.net.
(libsass is deprecated in Hugo)
I learnt a bit more Git during the pull request too—about rebasing, but I'm still not very good at it (merging the changes is a bit confusing to me).

Anyone using https://git.sr.ht notice `git push` acting really slowly for the past few days? It was never like this before... Increased server load? #sourcehut #srht #git #gitforge #gitrepo
Example: Writing 11 objects, 1.2KB only. `time git push` took 1m3s total, 0.05s user, 0.04s system, 0% CPU.
Update: I think the error is local to me; I had some errors on `git fsck` and I streamlined `.build.yml`. It seems to be fixed now.

My #RaspberryPi 4B is acting up and I think it's data corruption(?) from not powering off properly when it stopped responding. I really need to buy a switch to shutdown safely...
I formatted the SSD (SMART status seems ok), flashed the latest #DietPi and slowly setting back my services.
This is a great chance for me to actually sort out the messy initial setup of experimenting with #SelfHosting I'm in the process of setting up a #cron job with #rsync, #syncthing & dietpi-backup now. 🤞#Rpi4

Just found an effective critical css generator: https://w3speedup.com/tools/critical-css-generator/
Great for boosting page speed / load times. I used https://www.npmjs.com/package/critical in the past and it's not as good.

It took longer than expected for me (a day on and off) to get #sourcehut builds workflow to work with Bunny's SFTP limitations but I got it working! This is definitely going into a blog post! Really happy it worked out. Sourcehut Git repo + Builds + Bunny.net Storage + CDN replacing GitHub Git repo + Actions + Pages!

New post on #BurgeonLab ✍️
➡️ https://www.burgeonlab.com/blog/hosting-static-sites-with-github-pages-or-bunny-net/
Finally decided to take my first actions on migrating away from GitHub.com (#GiveUpGitHub) by moving my burgeonlab.com static blog out of GitHub Pages to Bunny.net Storage + CDN.
Also, I've decided to go for @sourcehut as my Git repo host—but that warrants its own post.

Realized there's other formats for export: .kml and .tcx. TCX has the most data (time, sensor data, elevation, etc)
This site offers merging of TCX with GPX (and other tools): https://gotoes.org/gotoes/strava/
I found a Python script that converts TCX to GPX that I've yet to try: https://github.com/pascalmariany/tcx2gpx
The elevation data this time is also from the TCX data, instead of generated by Mapbox via GPX.studio. I am guessing it should be more accurate.

Woah very cool, I just tried using #Pagefind indexer with #NodeJS for the first time to add #search functionality to my current #Hugotheme that doesn't have it built-in. https://github.com/hugo-theme-anubis2/hugo-theme-anubis2
Still customizing... it was amazing to see the indexing and being able to search for any keyword immediately!
I really do love learning about #Hugo #SSG. Despite more code, it makes more sense to me than clunky #WordPress' GUI and backend that's not required for basic blogs like mine. #npm #npx #node

Have you ever wanted to get the wide ranging #emojis on your #mastdon profile?
Try going to: https://emojos.in/ and entering your instance, e.g. fosstodon.org in my case, and you can see all of them on one page!
I love the tech ones—so I added a bunch of my favourite down at the bottom of my bio. Also, I've decided to move my favourite 'Blob Fox Coffee' :blobfoxcofeowo: out of my username to make my name more readable.
