Betreibt eine*R von euch hier eigentlich noch ein klassisches persönliches Blog oder gar Photoblog?
In den Nuller-Jahren war ich damit sehr fleißig am Start. Ein paar sind technisch noch vorhanden, aber aktuell dem öffentlichen Zugriff entzogen, da offenbar nur noch von Bots aufgesucht. Was ich eigentlich sehr schade finde! -
lots of ppl on the smallweb tend to avoid any kind of fancy JavaScript stuff on their sites, and are more less in favor of a web 1.0 style content, but I wonder if there might be some value in tools that allow people to interconnect their sites with their friends through JS and open standards like RSS. It would be like taking the concept of webrings to a more integrated level.
I wonder how far you could take it? I'm working on a basic tool that lets you show off the recent blog posts by your friends on your own site, but maybe there's room for even more tooling that could possibly make running a site into something more similar to dynamic content of social media, but without all the associated baggage?
Idk, but I do feel rather excited about what I'm working on anyways, even if it doesn't expand into an entire frontier for smallweb stuff.

Those sunset winter skies are something else! Greetings from the Mesa And just like that false spring has arrived and it's back to afternoons outside with the dog playing frisbee. The fresh air feels lovely. I've fallen a bit behind in my work schedule - i'm living patterns - work really hard for a month or two and then rest for a week or more.

I added Fediverse/Activitypub based user-comments to my blog.
The implementation is based on the great client-side solution, that @jwildeboer created. Was easy to integrate something similar into my Pelican blog templates🙂

OpenDiary has extended the shutdown date to the end of February. My friends at prosebox.net have developed some kind of app or extension that will let you mass-scrape your entries out of OpenDiary - so if that happens to be you, get cracking.

My last Curiosities newsletter is up for 2025, it's mostly a list of my media etc. top 5 (in no particular order) for 2025. I only wrote up 15/52 weeks last year, i'm hoping to get on a more regular schedule for 2026. Except for holiday weeks, issues will go out on Wednesday mornings. My newsletter is a mix of weekly personal stuff, 5 links to great stuff i've found, what i'm consuming media wise, and more creativity...

Cosmic Variance was a collaborative #weblog discussing physics, #astrophysics, and other topics, written by #JoAnneHewett, #MarkTrodden, #SeanCarroll, #RisaWechsler, #JulianneDalcanton, #CliffordJohnson, #JohnConway, and Daniel Holz.
