😭 Idk what happened. My #Indiekit server died on me suddenly while I was trying to work on a new plugin for tracking books, so without thinking I thought it was caused by the new plugin tinkering. Then I thought it was caused by the #codeberg outage a while ago... But I think I found out the actual problem... an expired Caddy cert. I need to take a break now my head is full of #nodejs #nunjuks #caddy #docker_compose #microformats #micropub 😵💫

@axxuy Before I started using #indiekit, I would just write whatever was on my mind on Mastodon. But now that I syndicate note (microblog style) posts from my site to Mastodon, I try to expand on the 'toot' a bit more, giving it some more content. For short updates or other random comments, I will directly post to Mastodon.

This is the first time using my new Pi Docker version of the #Indiekit #Micropub server while I’m out! Wrote about my journey in the latest weeknote if you’re interested.
And tomorrow is another #IndieWeb #HomebrewWebsiteClub where I’ll be a stand-in moderator for the first time. The more, the merrier! I’d love to see new faces. 😊

Anyone having trouble accessing with their private Codeberg repos with existing access tokens (repo: read and write permissions)? Just starting failing for me some time in the last 24 hrs. Thanks!
Update: I think it's Indiekit gitea-store having trouble... I tested a new Codeberg access token with added user permissions and it works in curl (https://codeberg.org/api/swagger#/repository/repoCreateFile).

Another day, another service down/disrupted. My #Indiekit is hosted on Render's free tier (I'm looking to switch tbh but haven't gotten time yet).
It's down and I can't access my Indiekit NodeJS server 😓

https://github.com/axios/axios/issues/10636Luckily I don't use npm much (only #Indiekit) and it wasn't the malicious v1.14.1 or v0.30.4, it was v1.13.2.
Check with `npm list axios` in your /node_modules folder. I also ran `find ~ -type d -path "*/node_modules/plain-crypto-js" 2>/dev/null` to see if the RAT is found any where on my Mac. 🤞Luckily nothing. Scary! Read the full post mortem report above!

Funny how building an ActivityPub plugin for #indiekit fully based on Fedify, migrating my Mastodon account to my own server @[email protected] and building my own UI to consume AP content from the #Fediverse made me use even more than before.
This post is simultaneously a blog post, an #ActivityPub object in the inbox of my followers and a syndicated post to Bluesky.
Next in line? getting inspired by #Wafrn and turn this indiekit/AP instance into my own #Bluesky Pds.

This post is simultaneously a blog post, an #ActivityPub object in the inbox of my followers and a syndicated post to Bluesky.

Two Microsub reader updates this week:
Feed type indicators — each feed now shows its type (RSS, Atom, JSON Feed, h-feed) as a badge, and subscribing to a feed that already exists in another channel returns a clear error instead of silently creating a duplicate. URL normalization catches trailing slash and http/https variants.
Mark source as read — the mark-as-read button is now a split button. The main action marks a single item, but a dropdown caret reveals “Mark {source name} as read” — which bulk-marks all items from that feed in one click. Cards animate out smoothly. Handy when a noisy feed floods a channel and you want to clear it without losing items from other sources.

🎉 I’ve added a new Featured section to my homepage.
I can now mark articles as featured directly from the Indiekit backend, and my Indiekit homepage plugin automatically renders them on the frontend.
The plugin exposes Eleventy data sources that I can reuse to build different widgets or page sections.
This means the backend acts as a small control panel where I can decide what appears where:- Homepage
- CV section
- Blog section
In short, I can manage featured content and page sections without touching the frontend code.

I went from micro.blog to self hosted indiekit and having my own ActivityPub instance via Fedify
Its quite a change that now everything I use in terms of UI/backend can be changed, fine-tuned, adapted at will.Now I’m wondering, where does it end?
well…it ends when the plugins I forked and adapted to my needs are individually reviewed to make sure they abide to upstream coding practice, but also reviewed for code duplication, code security and overall coding best practices.
Some plugins are easy to handle, others like ActivityPub/Fedify implementation or Microsub are much larger code base that will require careful review.
And then there is the UI for ActivityPub and Microsub, in both cases I followed existing indiekit approach but I still had to make bold choices that I’m not 100% happy with.
And then there is the question of contributing back to upstream knowing all the plugins and sometimes improvements or bugfix I handled where assisted and made possible in such short timewm, by Claude Code.

Released v2.4.0 of my ActivityPub plugin — unified the reader and explore processing pipelines into a single shared path. Posts now go through the same enrichment (avatars, media, quotes, hashtags) regardless of whether they come from your home timeline or the explore feed. Also fixed a race condition on the muted users index that could cause startup errors.
