  1. So as of yesterday, 90 days have passed with my entire #homelab in a "single stack" all running atop an M1 mac mini. Under 30 watts total power consumption, 4 VMs and dozens of services in containers. Zero issues.

  2. Shocker! The #SteamDeck got a price hike!

    - 512GB OLED = $789 ($200)
    - 1TB OLED+AG = $949 ($300)

I cannot longer recommend the Steam Deck as entry level gaming.

If you want to play *something*, get a #MacMini or a #MacBookNeo... if you can find them.

How much the #SteamMachine will cost? $1,200? Will be DOA?

  14. Woah. When I upgraded to my Mac Mini M4Pro I created a external drive to offload everything but the OS to it to avoid paying the Apple tax on storage and it works great.

I chose the WD Black SN850X. One went in a OWC 1M2 enclosure and the other in a OWC enclosure that holds a 12TB HDD as well as a working drive / backup (I also have 2 26TB HDD for backup as well)

I paid $599.00 in March of 2025 for each. Now they are ALMOST 3 times that and almost 6X in Japan. Man talk about good timing For the cost of the 8TB internal upgrade (I got 1TB) which was almost 2300 at the time, I covered both drives, the enclosures, the HDD and the upgrade to 64gb or RAM) Quite a steal IMHO as today just the SSD's would push $3000 USD, oh and the 64gb RAM version is not an option anymore #Mac #MacMini #SSD #Storage #apple

    The #overheating I get recording #video, with #multiple #iCloud #pages documents open?

Is enough to boil the kettle.

    Can #Apple solve that … ?

  29. A $1,999 Mac mini runs a 70B parameter model that a $4,000 Windows workstation physically cannot.
The reason: Apple Silicon's unified memory. No separate VRAM pool. No PCIe bottleneck. Just one shared memory for CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine.

  44. The rise of local AI is changing hardware demand in unexpected ways — and the Mac Mini is emerging as one of the biggest winners.

What makes it interesting is not just the compact form factor. Apple Silicon’s unified memory architecture, low power consumption, quiet operation, and ability to run AI workloads locally are making the Mac Mini increasingly attractive for developers, startups, and businesses building AI agents.

Recent reports show that higher-memory Mac Mini configurations are experiencing major shortages as AI adoption accelerates.

    This article explores:
    • Why local AI agents are growing rapidly
    • How the Mac Mini became a practical AI workstation
    • The role of unified memory for LLM workloads
    • Why developers are moving away from cloud-only AI setups
    • What this trend means for future AI infrastructure
