Die Fotoverwaltung digiKam hat ein der Version 9 eine Reihe von Verbesserungen erhalten.
Dabei ist auch ein "Survey" Modus, der hilft, bei vielen Aufnahmen rasch eine Auswahl zu treffen: In einem zweiten Fenster (möglichst auf einem zweiten Monitor) öffnet sich das jeweils ausgewählte Foto im Großformat und kann rasch bewertet werden. Auf dem Hauptmonitor navigiert parallel durch die Alben:

Running @digiKam on my ancient 2014 #MacBookPro with #Fedora 42 and #NVIDIA graphics drivers is practically impossible unless I switch off hardware acceleration for #QtQuick: `QT_QUICK_BACKEND=sofware`. Voilá: crashes be gone!

I find that my #Android #GooglePixel9 takes dull #photos when it is overcast. However, that lead me to discover that #Digikam is a pretty solid image editor. The automatic colour correction and white balance really helped give the #pictures the pop they needed.

Nach ein paar weiteren #Stunden rumprobieren habe ich jetzt auch meine #Festplatten eingebunden und kann aus #DigiKam auf meine #Fotos zugreifen. Mehr brauche ich nicht. #System läuft.

Denn Du heute #DigiKam Deine RAW Dateien nach #DNG umwandelst und die Originale dann löschst, kann es sein, dass bestimmte Informationen nicht richtig umgewandelt wurden. In ein paar Monaten/Jahren könnten FLOSS Programme diese Details aber vielleicht gelernt haben.
Wenn Deine Kamera aber so neu ist, dass FLOSS Raw-Entwickler die neuen RAW Formate noch nicht unterstützen, hast Du keine andere Wahl als sie mit Adobe nach DNG zu konvertieren. -
Ich bin überzeugt: Fotoverwaltungssoftware sollte Metadaten immer direkt in den Bilddateien speichern – plattform- und softwareübergreifend nutzbar.
Ob Gesichterkennung, Beschreibungstext, Kategorien oder manuelle Tags – all diese Infos gehören nicht nur in eine Datenbank, sondern auch als Metadaten direkt ins #Bild (EXIF/XMP/IPTC etc.).
Ich habe im Laufe der Jahre zwei Programme intensiver genutzt:
Damals unter Windows: #Picasa (RIP). Heute unter Linux: #Digikam.
Jetzt überlege ich, auf eine serverbasierte Lösung umzusteigen – aber immer bleibt dieselbe Frage:
Wie #portabel sind meine Daten, wenn die Software ausfällt oder ich wechseln will?
Eine Metadatenstrategie, die auf offene Standards setzt, erleichtert Backups, Migration, parallele Nutzung und langfristige Verfügbarkeit.

#Apple #Preview is surprisingly powerful for what it is meant to be (operating system level file viewer). I don't know if any similar tools exist in #Linux that are 'os level' and have similar functionality.
IIRC #Gwenview on #KDE and #Ristretto on #XFCE don't have this ability.
Would be pleased to find a light app like this as well!

I'm annotating archive photos with #Digikam (with tags saved inside the image file). Is there some metadata in #XMP to tell a photo is the third of a set of 4 -- or things like that?
