@hedders If you need the books to be drm-free, i recommend #Calibre to _make_ them drm-free. Very few ebooks are drm-free, most regular sold ebooks have at least the adobe-lock. I buy mine at ebook.de, a german online-store, at least they tell me up front, if a book comes with drm or not.

#TIL Die neue Version 9.13 von #Calibre kann E-Books per Airdrop auf iPhone oder iPad schicken :)

Status update:

Pdf reader with touchscreen control, alongside some pdfs from #HumbleBooksBundle also converted an epub copy of a Agatha Christie novel from #ProjectGutenberg using #calibre to pdf.

Currently no nice way of selecting the pdfs.

#TIL Anmerkungen zu E-Books lassen sich nicht ohne weiteres aus #Calibre exportieren und in #Zotero importieren. Habe mir ein Skript erstellt, dass alle Annotation aus der SQlite Datenbank von Calibre als Markdown exportiert. Die werde ich dann manuell in Zotero importieren und in Zukunft nur noch dort annotieren (ab Version 7 geht das on EPUB und PDF und ist damit auch auf den mobilen Geräten verfügbar).

@rl_dane Do you have an low-effort way to get a book into #Calibre when you can't download the epub from kobo.com? I've DeDRMed books that Kobo allowed me to download, but this particular book can't be downloaded (perhaps because it's old?)

I left Kindle too. If it helps, our library is now in Calibre, including the old stock of de-drmed Kindle books. And I'm happy with BookFusion as a reading app across various devices. (There's a BookFusionplugin for Calibre.)
We just buy our e-books from online bookshops.

Alors voilà : j'utlise pour le moment ReadEra Premium pour lire et annoter romans et essais aux formats ePub ou PDF. Appli installée sur mon smartphone Android et sur ma liseuse BigMe. Seule synchro possible : via un compte Google sur Google Drive.

Existe-t-il une appli qui permettait par exemple de passer par un serveur #WebDAV ? Suis plongé en ce moment dans la doc de Calibre...

With this kind of issue, I've found that having the dedicated e-reader device (even an old one, whether Kindle or Kobo)) makes it much easier to #DeDRM things.

The Kobo, in particular, is effortless with #Calibre and the DeDRM plugin.

Edit: language clarification and a little more detail

Having an #ebook and #Calibre ... you got an "audiobook" in your reach.
