  1. Five Linux Apps to Install on Day One

    I read a How to Geek blog post titled 5 apps new Linux users should install on day one (HT Tux Machines). The author, Dibakar Ghosh, recommended the following apps: GNOME Tweaks and GNOME Extensions (if using GNOME) KDE Connect or GSConnect A Chromium-based browser OnlyOffice Flatpak All five recommendations are sensible. My only amendments to those five apps specifically would be that I opt for Brave Origin as my Chromium-based browser and I prefer LibreOffice to OnlyOffice. Of […]

  2. The #koreader statstics are nice, but not really helpful for imports to #openlibrary or #bookwyrm. I guess I would have to combine them with my #calibre library for more information on the books themselves. Still, it's nice to have the data.
    Next up: comparison of #libby and #goodreads exports to see how to adjust the first to look like the latter.

  3. Pook-Emu Bee: Links For 04-15-26

    We have a second consecutive warm day in New York City. We also have a third consecutive day of Pook-Emu Bee links. 1. Seven Myths About the Iran War (Michael Doran for Tablet Magazine. 4. Ehi appassionati di libri, sapevate che esiste un'alternativa a Goodreads di Amazon chiamata BookWyrm?

    ➡️ noblogo.org/bookwyrm/bookwyrm-

    ➡️ bookwyrm.it

    BookWyrm consente di importare i dati esistenti da #Goodreads, #LibraryThing, #StoryGraph, #OpenLibrary, #Anobii e #Calibre:

    @fediverso

    #bookwyrm #fediverso #libri

  5. @[email protected] I used to use #Anobii as well, it was far better than #Goodreads in its early days, unfortunately, the latter overtook them. Now, most of my shelves are on Goodreads.

    You can go self-hosting mode. You can self-host
    #BookWyrm, or the traditional, ever reliable, #Calibre. ^_^ I no longer use Calibre because Goodreads.

    On the BookWyrm side of things, it can import your books from Goodreads.
