I’m using mostly my #Hiby R1 and my own #Navidrome instance for music listening, mixed with some #AppleMusic but maaaan, I always get back to my old #iPod
They are still so unbelievably reliable and feel so good in the hand. It’s my guilty pleasure to flip around those 5 pieces I have 😅 -

If any of y'all are looking for a #FOSS #Subsonic / #Navidrome client for #AndroidTV, may I suggest Chora?
(Not affiliated - I just think it's neat.) -
Now that I've set up Navidrome after seeing the buzz about it here, I'm curious what the Fediverse peeps recommend for Android music players that can connect to a self-hosted music library? I've tried Plexamp, Finamp, and Symfonium and they each have their strengths.

Ridiculously excited I’ll soon be going down a #Linux rabbit hole for the first time - Spotify in a box #navidrome #raspberrypi #4Tb

I am much pleased to tell anyone who cares that TuneMaster Pro Deluxe 4K v0.2.0 is now available

Quite a few fixes and new features

For anyone here #selfhosting their #music . How would you tag the "type" of an album/song? I need to differentiate between audiobooks and songs as well as to somehow tag media "for kids". I'm using #beets and #navidrome. Any idea?
-
I haven't been able to find a #navidrome compatible app for #carplay that supports #siri properly
-

I found the translations for my favorite self-hosted music streaming app a bit lacking.
So I rolled up my sleeves and did something about it :3
First time using Android Studio, too, in order to test them on my own device and an emulated Android Tablet x)

#feishin player is fully customizable. that's how it looks currently for me - way better than proprietary services #tidal #spotify I've been using before!
and all data from #Navidrome server is automatically scrobbled to @ListenBrainz so you can get plenty of additional info like listening stats, recommendation playlists, recent releases... and more still to discover :) -
Very nice, #Navidrome GTK4 music client Gelly on #postmarketOS #OnePlus6
-
Holy shit, #Feishin (a #Navidrome client) got substantially prettier recently and it's got a flatpak now

Um #Spotify #selfhost?
Sim, to fazendo o meu usando #Navidrome.

#Navidrome #rclone #beets and #MusicBrainzPicard - a great combination. That is all.
-
I tried #LightweightMusicServer at the recommendation of the #Tempus author (https://lemmy.world/post/43688357/22411971). I find the interface/UX to be much better than navidrome, but unfortunately it's much worse than #navidrome at finding tags. It's also written in C++ rather than Go, so I'm not particularly inclined to fix the tagging. ☹️

Some #Homelab success today:
Finally finished a rough de-duping of my old music files, enough to justify setting up #Navidrome for streaming from my home server.
So I did! Even got it up and running on my phone and my wife's phone. Trying out #Amperfy on my wife's iOS and #Ultrasonic on my GrapheneOS.
So far so smooth!
I wish there was a way for my wife to build her own library out of our super large library (that is mostly my files)... but we can probably find a work around for that later.

- Mail: Happy with #Mailfence. I'd consider Proton Unlimited but could not share calendar with my wife. Except if WE move everything to Proton, but again, hassle for my family?
- My Synology is used for calendar, contacts, tasks, file sharing, photos, movies and music.
- I use Synology basic for calendar, contacts, tasks and file sharing
- I use Synology Photos for photos. It's not super smooth but it works
- I use #Jellyfin for movies and music. For movies, it's OK. For music, it is quite slow and the lack of star rating annoys me. I'm considering #Navidrome -

Navidrome and FunkwhaleIf you like sharing music but don't want to give up your independence, try Navidrome, an open source, web-based music collection server and streamer, or Funkwhale, a platform for uploading, sharing, and publishing audio content across the federated web.

I wanted to listen to my music collection from everywhere, so I've been setting up Navidrome behind my FreedomBox using Podman quadlets for
systemdintegration (all based on Debian Trixie). Here's how:First I've installed Navidrome as Podman quadlet, based on the official docker compose installation manual:
Docs: https://www.navidrome.org/docs/installation/docker/
This is what my
/etc/containers/systemd/navidrome.containerlooks like:[Unit] Description=Navidrome Wants=network-online.target After=network-online.target [Container] Image=docker.io/deluan/navidrome:0.60.0 User=1001:119 UserNS=keep-id Environment=ND_ENABLEINSIGHTSCOLLECTOR=false Environment=ND_BASEURL=https://www.example.org/music/ Environment=ND_LASTFM_ENABLED=false Environment=ND_LISTENBRAINZ_ENABLED=false Environment=ND_ENABLECOVERANIMATION=false Volume=/home/navidrome/data:/data:rw,U,z Volume=/media/data/my-mp3-collection/:/music:ro,U,z PublishPort=127.0.0.1:4533:4533 [Service] TimeoutStartSec=900 Restart=always [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.targetThings to note:
- I've pinned the version to not automatically pull
latestbut have control over upgrades. User 1001:119refers to a dedicated non-system user I've created withadduser navidrome --disabled-loginwhich has a home directory to hold the data dir. 119 is the group my music collection folder belongs to. I'm automatically synchronizing it using syncthing, hence the differing GID.
After setting up this quadlet, I reloaded systemd config, started the container and checked the logs. It came up fine, scanning my library on first start:
sudo systemctl daemon-reload sudo systemctl start navidrome sudo journalctl -u navidrome -fAfterwards I set up FreedomBox integration, so I can potentially re-use SSO and have Navidrome run on a URL path on the same domain. In order to do that I created a new Apache2 config
/etc/apache2/conf-available/navidrome.conf:<Location /music/> Include includes/freedombox-single-sign-on.conf <IfModule mod_auth_pubtkt.c> TKTAuthToken "admin" </IfModule> # allow websockets RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP:Connection} Upgrade [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP:Upgrade} =websocket [NC] RewriteRule /(.*) wss://127.0.0.1:4533/$1 [P,L] ProxyPass http://127.0.0.1:4533/music/ retry=1 ProxyPassReverse http://127.0.0.1:4533/music/ ProxyPreserveHost On </Location>This config uses FreedomBox's SSO and enforces a user account with "admin" role. In addition, it enables WebSockets and proxies through to the Navidrome container on port 4533.
I enabled it and reloaded Apache:
sudo a2enconf navidrome sudo systemctl reload apache2All of this done, I was able to open the Navidrome web UI on the configured path
/musicof my FreedomBox and set up a first admin account. Hooray!Next up: Figure out how to enable Navidrome to use FreedomBox's SSO. The docs are straight-forward:
https://www.navidrome.org/docs/getting-started/extauth-quickstart/
And FreedomBoxs already sets a
REMOTE_USERheader. But I've not been able to make this work, yet. Inside the podman container, the proxy IP is reported as 10.88.0.1, but setting this and the header in my config did not work. I'll figure it out eventually and post an update. Happy selfhosting! - I've pinned the version to not automatically pull
