I got a successful tool call running in Pi Coding Agent with local Ollama qwen3.5:9b.

Building local-agent-bench on 8GB VRAM to test how local LLMs handle agent tasks: tool calls, tool results, multi-step workflows, and hallucination checks.

The interesting part: Pi works here, while OpenClaw / Hermes native tool calls do not yet. That gives me a clean benchmark target.

I am impressed with #ansible that I am learning to manage updates for my #proxmox cluster along with setting up my #kubernetes using a small 4 node #pi cm4 cluster. Goal to move my web site and other services into kubernetes just to get better at it and docker images. At some point I want to make a small message system to scan content from plex that are full most in mks format to h264 mp4 to save some space letting the cluster do cluster things. Yea the pi’s won’t be fast be will learn.

There is an interesting aspect of using #claude and #pi for prototyping. It feels better using the command line tools instead of the integrated interface in #IntelliJIDEA. My guess is, the interface wastes space and context. Would the #IDE visualize what happens, instead of just showing the typical "working" and text dump stuff of the conversation, maybe I would not go back to the #terminal.

I was slightly annoyed when my github issue in the #Pi repo was closed within minutes as part of their anti-clanker protection. Was relieved when it was reopened manually the next day and accepted.

I know the devs are competent enough, and so are their tight circle of contributors, but sad to see this as the future of opensource contributions as bug reports. In every repo you are deemed unworthy till a human has the time to review your contribution.

If you use terminal coding agents, what complaints do you have? I want to build a new, highly lean and extensible one in Zig. I'd like to hear as many opinions as possible.

I've been using OpenCode and recently tried Pi. I like the idea of Pi, but it's in the npm ecosystem, so there's a security concern. It's minimal but made for the author himself (as he says it's not entirely bare-bones), so it's still opinionated (tree, HTML share, etc.). I respect the authors and maintainers of those.
