SourceHut recently added the possibility to use deploy keys instead of personal SSH keys for accessing Git repositories.
In a new blog post, we explain step by step how to take advantage of this new feature to increase the security of your CI/CD pipelines.
https://skyplabs.com/blog/sourcehut-deploy-keys/
If you are currently using personal SSH keys in your CI/CD pipelines for accessing Git repositories hosted on SourceHut, we recommend you replace them quickly with deploy keys.

Oh hey we heard that #Codeberg banned #LLM-generated projects. We heard this is a good read too: https://blog.codeberg.org/protecting-our-floss-commons-from-llms.html
This is some great news! By the way, we still accept patches via email on #SourceHut, so by all means feel free to submit your contribution to either too! 😄

#sourcehut combined with emacs eww is such a lovely combo.
In general websites can make for very lovely TUIs if you design your HTML for it.

Working on Silex Desktop's "Create a new website" feature
My new "full CLI" philosophy: Silex Desktop uses CLI tools only, no reinventing the wheel — git, glab, @forgejo 's tea, @vidak 's hut (#SourceHut), #rclone for deploys. Each tool is set up in a panel; Silex helps you discover and configure them — FOSS only
Now for the new website feature: @silex will display your Forgejo repos only if you have tea :)
Work funded by @nlnet through the NGI0 Commons Fund

I honestly think @radicle deserves an honourable mention alongside @Codeberg and SourceHut .
I can agree that #Radicle might not be the best fit for all projects. But for many, this can be just as well a suitable project forge. Or be a secondary one along side #Codeberg or #SourceHut.

I wrote shpaste, a small #Emacs client for paste.sr.ht, #SourceHut's pastebin.
Create a paste from the region or the whole buffer — the URL lands in your kill-ring — and browse/open/delete your pastes from a list buffer. Built on the SourceHut GraphQL API, auth via auth-source.
Write-up: https://www.bounga.org/emacs/2026/07/01/shpaste-a-paste-sr-ht-client-for-emacs/

I doubt we will get a clearer, more succinct synopsis of the downfall of #GitHub than this button. Clearly "Cancel" should be the primary action we all do on GitHub from here on out. Use #CodeBerg, #SourceHut, your own self-hosted forge. Anything bug GitHub at this point.

New #noai whitepaper in the works;
🛡️ "You cannot have our users' data." SourceHut is blocking aggressive AI/LLM scrapers with a new system named Anubis.
Drew DeVault states SourceHut is funded by user subs, not data sales, and will never sell out its users or the commons to AI companies.
✅ Allowed: Search indexers, Internet Archive, open research
❌ Blocked: AI training bots & SEO scrapers"We take our role as stewards seriously."

Just yesterday, I was wondering on lobste.rs if/when #SourceHut was planning to add code search. Today an RFC for code search was sent to sr.ht-dev!

Self-hosted Git in 2026: Forgejo, Gitea or SourceHut?
I value open-source governance, but I also care about polish, UX, Actions, OpenTofu state, security, and long-term maintenance.
Which would you choose for a small/private team, and why?

After about 3 hours, I'm finally done migrating all Catacomb projects over from GitHub to SourceHut:
https://sr.ht/~undeadleech/catacomb
I was surprised to realize that GitHub did not automatically subscribe me to many of my own projects, finding some open issues in the process.
Didn't think it was going to take this long, but there's been a lot of projects piling up. If someone finds some old GitHub links, please let me know.

Sigh. I am sad SourceHut keeps getting attacked. I do enjoy using them as my main Git repo/CI tool. Hope the team can fix the DDoS soon.
