X's #Algorithm Feeds Off #Ragebait and Impacts #Democrats More, Study Finds
X’s algorithm learns what you hate and shows you more of it, according to a new study just published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (#PNAS ). The paper, titled Value misalignment of X’s feed algorithm is a reflection of value tensions in engagement, found that the site’s algorithm prioritized #engagement above all else when it generated a user’s #ForYouPage. It also showed that X serves more ragebait to people who say they are Democrats, although the exact reason for that is unclear.
“In 2026 that’s maybe not the most surprising headline ever,” Ziv Epstein, a postdoctoral researcher at #Stanford University, and co-author of the paper, told 404 Media. “… it turns out that X's feed algorithm, like a lot of these #socialmedia algorithms, is optimized for engagement [but] it turns out that not all types of engagement are considered equally.”

Australia udowodniła, że zakaz social mediów to polityczny teatr. Nauka potwierdza: czas na opcję atomową
Kiedy w styczniu br. analizowałem szum wokół australijskiej ustawy rugującej nastolatków z platform społecznościowych, nazwałem ją pudrowaniem gangreny i statystyczną wydmuszką. Wystarczyło nieco ponad pół roku, by rzetelne badania uniwersytetów Stanforda i Harvardu bezlitośnie obnażyły bezradność polityków.
Dziś mamy dowody: cyfrowa prohibicja zbankrutowała, a świat nauki postuluje dokładnie to, co na łamach iMagazine nazwałem w styczniu opcją atomową – rozbrojenie toksycznych algorytmów rekomendacji zamiast sprawdzania numerów PESEL, czy sztywnych blokad uderzających w dzieci, a nie w operatorów infrastruktury poznawczej (Meta, TikTok i inni).
Statystyczna iluzja prysła po trzech miesiącach
Przypomnijmy tło: w grudniu 2025 roku rząd w Canberze zakazał osobom poniżej 16. roku życia dostępu do sieci społecznościowych. Gdy miesiąc później premier Anthony Albanese ogłaszał sukces, chwaląc się usunięciem 4,7 miliona kont, w tekście 4,7 mln usuniętych kont to nie 4,7 mln uratowanych dzieci ostrzegałem, że mamy do czynienia z czystą iluzją, bo młodzież natychmiast znajdzie obejścia.
Dziś te przypuszczenia potwierdzają dane opublikowane na łamach Knowable Magazine. Ponad 85% australijskich nastolatków po trzech miesiącach od wejścia przepisów wciąż bez przeszkód korzystało z zablokowanych platform. Obchodzenie zabezpieczeń stało się szkolnym folklorem – od robienia podwójnego podbródka przed kamerą weryfikującą wiek, przez darmowe VPN-y, aż po konta zakładane z pomocą rodziców.
Co gorsza, pierwsze badania ankietowe nadzorowane przez Stanford Social Media Lab wykazały okrągłe zero zmian w jakości snu i kondycji psychicznej młodzieży. Zakaz nie naprawił niczego, bo nie dotknął sedna problemu. Ba, jest jeszcze gorzej, zamiast poprawy, obrywają niewinni i ci najbardziej uczciwi.
Ponury żart rządu: kara za praworządność i trauma COMO
Najbardziej tragikomicznym, absurdalnie wręcz przewrotnym skutkiem australijskiego prawa okazał się mechanizm psychologiczny, który uderzył w niewłaściwą grupę. Kto poniósł realne koszty ustawy rządu Albanese? Z całą pewnością nie cwaniacy, nie młodociani wyjadacze technologii ani ci, którzy mają w nosie przepisy.
Ustawa uderzyła wyłącznie w te kilkanaście procent nastolatków, którzy byli na tyle uczciwi, by posłuchać dorosłych, albo mieli rodziców bezwzględnie egzekwujących zakaz. To ponury żart losu: prawo mające chronić najmłodszych zepchnęło najbardziej praworządne dzieciaki w otchłań zjawiska COMO (Cost of Missing Out).
Podczas gdy 85% rówieśników dalej organizowało spotkania, wymieniało się notatkami ze szkoły i komentowało swoje życie w sieci, uczciwi zostali wykluczeni z cyfrowego krwioobiegu. Canberra wysłała młodemu pokoleniu fatalną lekcję wychowawczą: praworządność oznacza samotność i karę, a kombinowanie i oszukiwanie biometrii gwarantuje święty spokój.
Albanese podwaja stawki w akcie bezsilności
Zamiast stanąć w prawdzie i przyznać, że próba zablokowania platform przypomina stawianie płotu na oceanie, australijski rząd uciekł w klasyczną eskalację. Premier Albanese ogłosił w czerwcu podwojenie kar dla platform do astronomicznej kwoty 99 milionów dolarów australijskich. Dla Mety to i tak zaokrąglenie w budżecie kwartalnym.
Gdy nie działa mały młotek, australijscy politycy sięgają po młot pneumatyczny. Tyle, że nie chodzi o kaliber, tylko fakt, że narzędzie jest po prostu niewłaściwe. W tle tej pokazówki kryje się jednak ponury koszt dla całego społeczeństwa. Aby zweryfikować, czy ktoś nie ma 16 lat, platformy zmuszone są do zbierania skanów dowodów i biometrii od wszystkich obywateli. W ten sposób, zamiast ograniczyć wszechwładzę cyfrowych gigantów, państwo buduje im bazę danych pod powszechny cyfrowy identyfikator. Kto tu kogo naprawdę ukarał? Zamiast uderzyć w fatalnie zaprojektowane algorytmy mielące młode umysły, przepisy de facto zrobiły olbrzymi prezent operatorom sieci społecznościowych.
Żebyśmy to dobrze zrozumieli: Meta i jej podobni dalej trują umysły (bo 85% nastolatków w Australii ominęło zakazy), to jeszcze dostają w prezencie gigantyczną bazę danych o obywatelach, biometrię, tożsamości… i to wszystko na koszt australijskiego podatnika!
Rany boskie, niech rząd polski nie robi tego samego błędu. Może zamiast kopiować nieskuteczny młotek, lepiej posłuchać głosów z nauki?
Nauka dochodzi do opcji atomowej
W moim felietonie Facebook to cybernowotwór, który toczy nasze umysły pisałem wprost, że Meta i TikTok to nie są zwykłe serwisy, lecz operatorzy infrastruktury poznawczej, którzy handlują naszym czasem, podpalając emocje. Formułowałem wtedy konieczność wprowadzenia stanu wyjątkowego dla algorytmów rekomendacyjnych. Nie chodzi o likwidację social mediów, czy ich zakazywanie (co jest nieskuteczne), lecz o usunięcie z nich tego, co dewastuje umiejętności poznawcze.
Dziś środowisko akademickie – w tym badacze z Harvard Medical School i University of California – mówi dokładnie tym samym głosem. Eksperci wprost nawołują do porzucenia tępych zakazów administracyjnych i skupienia się na niezależnej regulacji konkretnych podsystemów oprogramowania:
- Delegalizacja nieskończonego przewijania (infinite scroll): usunięcie mechanizmu cyfrowego kasyna, który uniemożliwia mózgowi postawienie naturalnej granicy,
- Odcięcie silników rekomendacyjnych: zakaz wstrzykiwania do feedu niesubskrybowanych treści dobieranych pod kątem generowania gniewu i lęku,
- Powrót do chronologicznego feedu: przywrócenie stanu, w którym widzimy wyłącznie posty ludzi i stron, które sami świadomie zaobserwowaliśmy,
- Audyty kodu i systemów targetowania reklam: otwarcie czarnej skrzynki algorytmów przed niezależnymi badaczami.
Przestroga przed kopiowaniem błędu
Australijska lekcja powinna być czerwonym światłem dla polityków w Polsce i całej Unii Europejskiej, którzy coraz głośniej przebąkują o kopiowaniu rozwiązań z Antypodów (a niektórzy, jak Francja, już taki zakaz przegłosowali). Wprowadzenie zakazu opartego na wieku to polityczny teatr, który nie ratuje dzieci, a tworzy fałszywe poczucie bezpieczeństwa u rodziców i napędza inwigilację, nie strącając choćby włosa z głów tych, którzy zbudowali fundament problemu!
Problem nie polega na tym, że 15-latek korzysta z komunikatora czy przegląda zdjęcia znajomych z klasy. Prawdziwym problemem jest to, że za kulisami interfejsu pracuje warty miliardy dolarów silnik behawioralny, który traktuje ludzki mózg jak zasób do wyeksploatowania. Czas przestać pudrować gangrenę tabliczkami z zakazem wstępu i wreszcie przeprowadzić operację na samym kodzie.
