@Susan_calvin Aside from charities that have free Google Suite accounts, I haven't use a Google app in ... four years? There are alternative mappers. I find that #Mapquest's app is about as good as Google's. #CoMaps is still not there, but it's improving.

I never even noticed that Google Map changed the name of Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America until today. I was checking the new cat 5 #Hurricane called #Melissa.
Since Google has bowed to #Trump, I will no longer use Google Maps. Instead, I will be using #MapQuest from now on. If Google is turning far right, I will stop using #Gmail and #Youtube. I don't even use #Gemini any more cause Gemini obviously filters information and censors data. I use #Copilot for general free inquiry.

I picked up #MapQuest to try and #degoogle myself from Google Maps, mostly because every article I read online said it integrated with Android Auto for navigation in the car. Well it wasn't working for me, so I reached out to their support team and apparently they don't actually support it at all. Does anyone know if it's a feature they removed somewhat recently, or are there hundreds of articles on the Internet that explicitly state that MapQuest works with Android Auto that are wrong?

Apple Maps has also switched to the incorrect in every way "Gulf of America" so I've deleted that app, along with Google Maps, and have now installed MapQuest, regardless of any crazy routes on which it may take me. #iykyk

Sadly, #OsmAnd/ #OsmAnd+ is not a good replacement for #Google #Maps. Not for navigating at least.
I wish there was a way I could plan a route either on my desktop (#Linux) or web because the UI/ UX in OsmAnd+ is so fucking cluttered and "busy" that it's damn near next to impossible to actually do something.
I'm trying to plan a route from my current location to two destinations.
I'm starting at Point "A", my current location.
I put in the address for Point "C", my ultimate destination.
But then I realize I need to add a Point "B". But as soon as I go to add Point "B" it gets placed at the end.
And there's no way to move Point "B" to actually be my first stop.
Editing the locations doesn't work either because now I'm stuck with two identical destinations.
There needs to be separate modes for the app. Normal mode and Advance mode. Right now some settings are duplicated across multiple pages and multiple menus.
I HATE THIS FUCKING APP!
(But I hate Google Maps even more.)
Oh well.
Oh look, #MapQuest is still in business..... -

#MapQuest really needs to add this to their marketing.
You can add 'layers' to their app. Gas/Lodging/Groceries/Hotels all well and good.
But they also have a Layer for ICE CREAM

Geeks are Sexy: MapQuest Enters Its Villain Arc, Hands You the Keys to Geography. “In a world where Apple Maps, Google Maps, and even Bing (yes, Bing) have bent the knee and rebranded the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America, MapQuest has taken a different approach: pure, unfiltered chaos and hilarity. Introducing ‘Name Your Own Gulf’, the feature nobody asked for but everyone definitely […]
