  10. Speaking of California, there is this report of CBP putting automated license plate readers in remote areas that log all traffic:

    calmatters.org/justice/2026/02

When a camera like this is in a remote area, it becomes an easy target for physical destruction by direct action warriors. This goes double for anything owned or operated by ICE or CBP. You can bet these would not last long in Minneapolis.

Short of that, if there is little traffic it should be safe to stop out of range of the camera, cover up license plates, drive past the camera and out of range, then remove the covers. Only cops would make an issue of it, and some remote roads see few cops.

  16. The fact that Florida Fish & Wildlife can be deputized as ICE agents to facilitate surveillance on behalf of the federal government should give everyone pause. This is the entangled way our surveillance state works, where one department can surveil for innocuous reasons and later spy for any reason.

  21. “Free” #Surveillance Tech Still Comes at a High & Dangerous Cost

The cost of “free” surveillance tools — like #ALPR , networked cameras, #faceRecognition , #drones & data aggregation & analysis platforms — is measured not in tax dollars, but in the erosion of #civilLiberties

The collection & sharing of our data quietly generates detailed records of people’s movements & associations that can be exposed, hacked, or repurposed without their knowledge or consent

  27. The State of Anti-Surveillance Design

To outsmart #surveillance systems, it’s helpful to understand them. #Facialrecognition —which identifies an individual face—works differently from #biometric scans that look at a person’s #iris or #fingerprints , & those systems work diff from #ALPR , which could in theory match an individual’s movements to a car through a DB. & consumer-level facial recognition systems, like #Pimeyes , operate using diff #algorithms & DB
