I Love Israel: Manila-Tel Aviv Direct Flights to Launch in January 2027

Starting January 3, 2027, direct flights between Manila and Tel Aviv will launch with Israeli airline Arkia in-charge of the service, according to a news report by the Manila Bulletin. For many Filipinos who desired to visit the Holy Land in Israel, this is a dream that will come true and the new route is the first non-stop air link between the two major cities.

Filipinos can soon fly directly to Israel without making a stopover, as Israeli airline Arkia prepares to launch the first nonstop flights between Manila and Tel Aviv in January 2027.

The new route will begin on Jan. 3, 2027, with an initial service of one flight a week and a travel time of about 11 hours, according to Israeli Ambassador to the Philippines Dana Kursh.

For years, travelers between the Philippines and Israel have had to take connecting flights, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi among the main stopover points, while other options include connections through New Delhi, Bangkok, Seoul, and other Asian cities.

The new service will therefore provide the first nonstop air link between Manila and Tel Aviv.

Kursh welcomed the development in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Sept. 8, saying the route would bring the two countries closer after years without a direct connection.

“For the first time in many years, our two countries will be connected by a direct flight, bringing Israel and the Philippines closer than ever before,” she said.

The Israeli envoy said the new air link would go beyond making travel more convenient, as it could also open more opportunities for tourism, business, investment, and cultural exchanges.

“This is much more than a new flight route,” Kursh said.

“It is a bridge between our peoples, creating new opportunities for tourism, business, investment and cultural exchange, while making it easier for Israelis and Filipinos to discover each other’s beautiful countries,” she added.

The Department of Transportation had earlier pushed for direct flights between the Philippines and Israel, with officials saying improved air connectivity would help strengthen bilateral ties.

Kursh said she looked forward to welcoming more Israeli visitors to the Philippines while encouraging more Filipinos to discover Israel.

“I look forward to welcoming many more Israeli visitors to the Philippines and to seeing even more Filipinos discovering the beauty, diversity and warmth of Israel,” she said.

Also, let me remind you all that the ties between the Jews and Christians are truly biblical!

Leitartikel | Die Zeit läuft ab: Der Mangel an Dringlichkeit für ein #Geiselabkommen erreicht einen Wendepunkt

Am Freitagabend veröffentlichte die #Hamas ein Video, in dem sie um das Leben des 86-jährigen Aryeh #Zalmanowitz bangt, der am 7. Oktober aus seinem Haus im #Kibbuz Nir Oz in den #Gazastreifen entführt worden war.

Am selben Tag gab die tansanische Regierung bekannt, dass Clemens Felix #Matanga, ein 22-jähriger Student, der sich im Kibbuz Nahal Oz aufhielt und einer von zwei tansanischen Staatsangehörigen ist, die als entführt gelten, tot ist.

Zwei Tage zuvor war die Leiche der Geisel Judith #Weiss, 65, aus dem Kibbuz Be'eri in der Nähe des Al-Shifa-Krankenhauses gefunden worden. "Wir konnten sie nicht mehr rechtzeitig erreichen", sagte #IDF-Sprecher Konteradmiral Daniel #Hagari.

Einige Tage zuvor fand die #Armee, ebenfalls in der Nähe des Al-Shifa-Krankenhauses, die Leiche der 19-jährigen Soldatin Noa #Marciano aus Modi'in, die in der #Gefangenschaft der Hamas getötet wurde, nachdem die Hamas ein Video veröffentlicht hatte, das sie lebendig in ihrem Gewahrsam zeigt.

Die Realität bestätigt, was die Familien der #Geiseln aus ihren verzweifelten Herzen schreien: "Jeder Augenblick, der vergeht, ist entscheidend." Und doch scheint es, dass #Israel sich Zeit lässt und es nicht eilig hat, einen Geiseldeal zu genehmigen, und zwar aus irrelevanten Erwägungen, wie etwa politischem Druck gegen Zugeständnisse an die Hamas von Seiten der extremen Rechten, angeführt vom Minister für nationale Sicherheit Itamar Ben-#Gvir.

Dies ist unbegreiflich. Etwa 240 im Gazastreifen entführte Menschen - darunter #Säuglinge, #Kinder, #Frauen und ältere Menschen - befinden sich in den Händen sadistischer #Mörder, und #Premierminister Benjamin #Netanjahu scheint sich mehr um das Überleben seiner #Regierung zu sorgen als um ihr Leben.

Aus demselben Grund verbringt er seine Zeit lieber mit Fototerminen, bei denen IDF-Soldaten als Statisten auftreten, als sich mit den #Familien der Geiseln (und den #Hinterbliebenen und den Familien der von der Nordgrenze evakuierten Menschen) zu treffen.

Letzte Woche wurde von einer Vereinbarung über die Freilassung von etwa 50 Geiseln berichtet. Später wurde berichtet, dass die #USA und #Katar versuchen, eine Vereinbarung über die Freilassung von etwa 70 Geiseln in zwei Phasen zu erreichen. Doch während die Diskussionen über die Vorzüge dieses oder jenes Abkommens weitergehen, geht der Krieg weiter, und das Leben der Geiseln ist in Gefahr.

Einige sagen, dass ein weiterer Schaden für die Hamas dazu beitragen wird, den Hamas-Führer Yahya #Sinwar zu größeren Zugeständnissen in den Gesprächen zu zwingen, aber ein Schaden für die Hamas könnte auch das Leben der Geiseln gefährden. Andere befürchten, dass eine Unterbrechung der Kämpfe der Hamas helfen wird, sich zu erholen.

Dies ist ein mögliches #Risiko. An dieser Stelle sei jedoch daran erinnert, dass die Aufgabe des Militärs darin besteht, die Zivilisten (in diesem Fall die Geiseln) zu schützen und nicht umgekehrt.

Am Samstag fand nach einem viertägigen Marsch, an dem sich etwa 25 000 Menschen beteiligten, eine #Massenkundgebung vor dem Büro des Premierministers in #Jerusalem statt, bei der die Rückführung der Geiseln gefordert wurde. Eine weitere Kundgebung fand auf dem Platz vor dem #TelAviv​​er Museum statt, der als "Geiselplatz" bekannt geworden ist.

Die #Botschaft an die Regierung ist klar und deutlich: Ohne Rückgabe der Geiseln wird es kein Siegesbild geben. Die Regierung muss ihre Vorbehalte überwinden und so schnell wie möglich handeln, um die Geiseln nach Hause zu bringen.
