  1. A quotation from Hugo Black

In the First Amendment, the Founding Fathers gave the free press the protection it must have to fulfill its essential role in our democracy. The press was to serve the governed, not the governors. The Government’s power to censor the press was abolished so that the press would remain forever free to censure the Government. The press was protected so that it could bare the secrets of government and inform the people. Only a free and unrestrained press can effectively expose deception in government. And paramount among the responsibilities of a free press is the duty to prevent any part of the government from deceiving the people and sending them off to distant lands to die of foreign fevers and foreign shot and shell.

Hugo Black (1886–1971) American politician and jurist, US Supreme Court Justice (1937–71)
    New York Times Co. v. United States 403 U.S. 713, 717 (1971) (concurring)

(Not functional in Rawhide. App Images are discontinued in Atomic but .tar can be cryptographically verified, although dnf (like APT) is the highest bar.)

Do deprecated WARNINGs make you feel nostalgic?
e.g. tor is “a very small network”
consider using Privoxy or Socat, etc . . .
    2019.www.torproject.org/docs/f – eliminating DNS leaks

    * in /torrc → TestSocks 1 – client requests tor server DNS and “this is good”
which negates #ObsoleteWarnings for naysayers who don’t want to update and reason correctly

    * SafeSocks 1 prevents the issue anyway

*There is Vanguards now, not to mention [email protected] (stable G countermeasures)

also, in case you didn't know,
    rpm-ostree kargs --append=
    is really great
and rpm-ostress works over torsocks, atomic just doesn't like systemd so run 'tor' manually

  4. A quotation from Henry Commager

Who are those who are really disloyal? Those who inflame racial hatreds, who sow religious and class dissensions. Those who subvert the Constitution by violating the freedom of the ballot box. Those who make a mockery of majority rule by the use of the filibuster. Those who impair democracy by denying equal educational facilities. Those who frustrate justice by lynch law or by making a farce of jury trials. Those who deny freedom of speech and of the press and of assembly. Those who press for special favors against the interest of the commonwealth. Those who regard public office as a source of private gain. Those who would exalt the military over the civil. Those who for selfish and private purposes stir up national antagonisms and expose the world to the ruin of war.

Henry Steele Commager (1902-1998) American historian, writer, activist
Essay (1947-09), “Who Is Loyal to America?” sec. 3, Harper’s Magazine, Vol. 195, No. 1168

  5. A quotation from Eleanor Roosevelt

In the democracies of the world, the passion for freedom of speech and of thought is always accentuated when there is an effort anywhere to keep ideas away from people and to prevent them from making their own decisions. One of the best ways of enslaving a people is to keep them from education and thus make it impossible for them to understand what is going on in the world as a whole. […] The second way of enslaving a people is to suppress the sources of information, not only by burning books, but by controlling all the other ways in which ideas are transmitted.

Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962) First Lady of the US (1933-45), politician, diplomat, activist
    Column (1943-05-11), “My Day”
