Caterina de’ Medici: prima influencer della storia

Caterina de’ Medici nacque a Firenze nel 1519 con un inizio vita da trama di serie Netflix: orfana prima di compiere un mese, divenne l’unica erede legittima dei Medici e una pedina preziosa nelle strategie di potere familiari. Affidata alla nonna e poi al cardinale Giulio de’ Medici (futuro Clemente VII), crebbe tra conventi, tentativi di rapimento e trasferimenti “di sicurezza”, sviluppando una personalità vigile e cauta: perfetta per chi, secoli dopo, avrebbe fatto la influencer.

A 14 anni fu “lanciata” sul mercato matrimoniale francese, sposando Enrico, duca d’Orléans: un’unione strategica che portava i Medici nel cuore della monarchia di Francia. A corte era straniera, minuta, riservata e, per dieci anni, sterile: un vero problema di reputazione in un’epoca in cui il “content” si misurava in figli. Poi arrivò Francesco (1544) e, a ruota, altri nove bambini (sette sopravvissuti): da quel momento, ogni mossa politica fu filtrata dall’istinto materno.

Regina dal 1547, divenne la vera content manager del regno: prima al fianco di Enrico II, poi come reggente durante i regni dei figli Francesco II, Carlo IX ed Enrico III, fu di fatto la donna più potente di Francia (e forse d’Europa) tra il 1559 e il 1576. Il suo obiettivo? Evitare che la Francia collassasse nelle guerre di religione, usando negoziati, matrimoni, editti di tolleranza e, quando serviva, decisioni durissime come il massacro di San Bartolomeo (1572).

Colta, curiosa e abile nel gestire crisi da “regno in fiamme”, rimase a lungo dipinta come “la regina nera” più che come una pragmatica manager del potere. Morì a Blois nel 1589, a 69 anni, lasciando un’eredità complessa: guerre, intrighi, ma anche un’idea di corte come palcoscenico.

Proprio quell’idea di lusso, gusto e strategia è la chiave per capire perché tante delle “invenzioni” attribuite a Caterina non siano nate per caso, ma come veri e propri strumenti di posizionamento personale: una ragazza minuta, straniera e a lungo sterile, arrivata in una corte che la guardava con sospetto e la metteva in competizione con la favorita del re, alta, bella e consolidata, Diane de Poitiers. Per ribaltare la situazione e costruire la propria immagine, Caterina trasformò il guardaroba, la bellezza e i gesti quotidiani in vere e proprie mosse di branding: diventando così i suoi primi “prodotti signature”:

• Corsetto: Caterina non aveva un vitino naturalmente stretto e, in una corte dove l’immagine contava più di un trattato, impose un busto molto modellante per creare una silhouette “da regina”: il primo shapewear come strumento di potere. Risultato? Tutta la corte a fare “oh” davanti a una vita da vespa ottenuta con stecche, colla e tanta forza di volontà (e di cameriere che tiravano le stringhe).

• Tacchi alti: minuta rispetto al duca e insicura del proprio aspetto, per il matrimonio si fece realizzare scarpe con tacchi (5–7 cm, secondo alcune fonti fino a 10) per sembrare più alta e competere almeno in altezza con Diane de Poitiers: il primo “height boost” trasformato in trend. Da quel giorno, ogni donna che ha passato una serata su un tacco vertiginoso può ringraziare (o incolpare) direttamente Caterina. • Mutande: da ottima cavallerizza, Caterina adottò una cavalcata “all’amazzone” modificata, con la gamba destra quasi orizzontale sull’arcione; posizione comoda, ma con il piccolo effetto collaterale di rischiare di mostrare più del dovuto. Per evitare scandali (e puntate di cronaca rosa dell’epoca) diffuse l’uso di mutande strette e attillate, di cotone e fustagno, tanto che a corte le chiamavano “briglie da culo”: da capo “poco onesto” a must-have per nobildonne e, ironia della sorte, poi bandiera delle prostitute.

• Profumi: infastidita dai cattivi odori e dalla scarsa igiene della Francia dell’epoca (dove i bagni erano opzionali e i pomander obbligatori), portò con sé il profumiere personale Renato Bianco e impose la cultura italiana del profumo: essenze, acque profumate, guanti profumati e flaconi da tasca come primo beauty drop firmato “regina”. L’Acqua della Regina, creata per lei a Santa Maria Novella, fu l’antenata dell’acqua di colonia: praticamente il primo “signature scent” di una influencer senza tempo.

• Ventaglio: in una corte dove ogni gesto era osservato, il ventaglio divenne un oggetto scenico e un linguaggio non verbale: aprire, chiudere, agitare in modi diversi significava cose diverse, un primo social tool analogico per comunicare senza parlare, perfetto per una sovrana cauta e osservatrice. In pratica, Caterina ha trasformato un oggetto per rinfrescarsi in un mix tra emoji e status symbol, con tanto di materiali preziosi (avorio, tartaruga, piume) e decorazioni.

In altre parole: corsetto, tacchi, mutande, profumi e ventaglio non sono solo accessori, ma strumenti con cui Caterina ha costruito la sua immagine, gestito le insicurezze e dettato le regole del gioco a corte.

Сегодня на Хабре вышла статья про кражу цепочек рассуждений у закрытых моделей. Схема такая: берёшь зашифрованный блок сильной модели, подкладываешь слабой сестре того же провайдера, просишь пересказать дословно, и читаешь чужие мысли, включая случайно попавшие туда пароли и ключи. Атака красивая и, судя по препринту, работающая. Читал я её с двойным чувством, потому что это самое поле signature , которое Claude прикладывает к каждому блоку thinking , я разбирал по байтам ещё прошлой зимой, когда ковырял историю своего агента. Тогда набралось около полутора тысяч таких блоков из локальных сессий. Вывод был простой: конверт вокруг рассуждения совсем не opaque. Это обычный protobuf, он читается вообще без ключей, и зашифрован внутри ровно один вложенный кусок, сам текст мысли. Всё остальное лежит открыто. Статья заставила меня сдуть пыль с того исследования и перегнать парсер по свежим сессиям. За полгода протокол подрос на четыре версии схемы, и внутри нашлось кое-что, из-за чего у меня к выводам препринта есть уточнение. Но давайте по порядку. Начнём с одной маленькой, настоящей подписи, которую я вытащил из собственной сессии Claude Code полчаса назад. Откроем конверт...

I searched for information about a Portuguese historian working around 1454 as being “the first racist”. Or rather, a historian tasked with making his patron look altruistic and just by justifying the slave trade from an African colony.

It’s hard to make the claim for “first racist” when his finished journal was hidden for centuries and only found as 2 copies (one abridged) in the mid 1800’s. But this name has emerged as a racist and looking at the Wikipedia entry here is his signature. Worth zooming in to see the details.
