I have had #vitiligo since I was 11 and my hair has been turning white/silver since then. Having white hair as a kid/teen is a nightmare, of course. However, after more than 40 years of dyeing my hair, I decided to let the white streaks grow out. The look is growing on me.

I have spent nearly 50 years saying “Fuck you” to a culture that told me I should cover my pigmentation disorder with makeup, stay pale so it doesn’t show, or bleach the rest of my skin to match.
But I won’t deny I was pleased to see it slowly repigmenting, and watching myself bloom white over the last two months has been pretty horrible.

Happy #World_Meerkat_Day! 😄 Back in late May, I was able to fulfill my 3-year-long dream to visit Snowy, the world's only #white_meerkat! Her pale complexion was caused by #vitiligo, the onset of which occurred when she was 2 years old. Apart from needing more sun protection and becoming less active in her old age, Snowy remains a healthy member and dominant of her group! 🤍

Happy #World_Meerkat_Day! 😄 Back in late May, I was able to fulfill my 3-year-long dream to visit Snowy, the world's only #white_meerkat! Her pale complexion was caused by #vitiligo, the onset of which occurred when she was 2 years old. Apart from needing more sun protection and becoming less active in her old age, Snowy remains a healthy member and dominant of her group! 🤍

I've been using #stablediffusion to generate #characterart for the characters my daughters play in the #dnd game I run for them. It's my first foray into #aiart and I've been having a blast with it. Enough so that I'm sharing them here on mastodon.
Second of four, this is Nalra, a zebrataur barbarian (path of the ancestral guardian). Nalra presented some interesting challenges: first, the #ai model really didn't think she should have a zebra body without a zebra head sticking out of her tummy; second, I couldn't get it to do the #vitiligo so I had to use #GIMP to 'shop that in after the fact. But I do really really like how she turned out. #characterdesign by my 16 year-old.
