Instead of hoping in #Google, it would be better in the long run if concerned users rallied behind #Linux options (mainline or #Halium-based), and there are quite a few now, existing and upcoming.

1. Getting a device that simply does not have #Whatsapp / proprietary messaging apps, i.e.: #Linuxmobile: #Flx1, #LibertyPhone, #Librem5, #Jolla2c, etc. People typically won't care enough about #privacy but they will understand if WA simply does not work on your phone.
2. Kids: They don't have phone numbers (or phones in many cases) but want to be included in family group chats. Once kids got in on it, #DeltaChat spread like wildfire among our extended family, relatives, inlaws and friends. Even a kid with #downsyndrome onboarded their grandpa in seconds while I had earlier struggled to get him on #Signal!
A great thing about Delta Chat is that, unlike #ElementMessenger and other fully-featured #Matrix clients, there's no search and discovery feature so kids do not stumble upon untrusted groups and strangers' profiles.

« Le peuple demande la baisse des prix sur les produits alimentaires » lisait-on sur la banderole de deux manifestantes martiniquaises, lors d’un rassemblement contre la vie chère à Fort-de-France, en octobre dernier. Loin d’être résolue aujourd’hui, la question virulente du coût de la vie en Martinique met en évidence de nombreux enjeux liés au modèle agricole des Antilles et plus généralement des départements et régions d’Outre-mer (Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyane, La Réunion et Mayotte). Parmi eux, celui de la souveraineté alimentaire, largement évoqué dans l’Hexagone et Sesame 16, mais un peu moins souvent en ce qui concerne les Outre-mer. Où en sont ces territoires à ce sujet ? A quelles problématiques spécifiques sont-ils confrontés ?

C'est en 2020 qu'a eu lieu le premier confinement mondial. Cette année-là, la Plateforme intergouvernementale scientifique et politique sur la biodiversité et les services écosystémiques #IPBES a convoqué « un atelier virtuel urgent sur les liens entre la dégradation de la nature et l'augmentation des risques de pandémie [...] Les expert·es s'accordent à dire qu'il est possible d'échapper à l'ère des pandémies, mais que cela nécessitera un changement radical d'approche, pour passer de la réaction à la prévention. »
