Als ich dieser Tage wieder Konzerttermine für den Kalender des GothDiscoInferno recherchierte, ist mir eine Veranstaltung besonders aufgefallen:

Ein Konzert von Mesh und Devision Redux in Berlin (Sonntag 4.10.), das bereits um 15:30 Uhr beginnt.

Das ist doch eine seltene Gelegenheit für alle, die nicht erst abends zu einem Konzert losziehen können oder wollen.

Devision Redux ist ein Ableger von De/Vision, bei dem Steffen Keth mit Daniel Myer alten Songs der Band etwas mehr "Edge" zum Tanzen verleiht.

quite some other projects try to solve "offline communications" by using Bluetooth but I think this is very unpractical for anything that is not looking like an IRC or SMS app

but if people setup local interconnected wifi hotspots and build a mesh network in the cities/towns then you can have a something much more interesting while not draining everyone's battery

enabling people to do things like this and becoming truly resilient and autonomous

things like this you can never do with centralized messengers like #WhatsApp, #Telegram, #Signal, etc. if you really care about digital independence, centralized alternatives are just NOT an option at all

I am currently working with a LiDAR unit salvaged from a robot vacuum for an interactive light installation.
conveniently, it communicates seamlessly with an ESP32. The housing is designed in @freecad using a photograph of the sensor as start.

Once its finished I will share the files.

Zerion 3.0 is live. On Google Play now, with F-Droid and the APK following the release tag.

The big one: our own native protocol stack, replacing the inherited Bramble layers entirely. Post-quantum on every message (ML-KEM-768, ML-DSA-65 via Bouncy Castle).

Two new transports ship with it: opt-in I2P as an alternative to Tor, and a Bluetooth mesh that carries messages device to device with no internet at all. Tor stays the default.
