Conclusie:
Mocht je op een school zitten met een dergelijk "BYO"-beleid: Laat de school weten dat je niet bereid bent aan dit "betaal de bling-bling rekening van school🤑 "-beleid mee te werken.

Een leuke refurbished computer van een paar honderd euro is helemaal prima. Daar kun je een Linux distro naar keuze op zetten (dat recht heb je, het is jou computer! ) en als je dat niet kunt betalen neem je contact op met @LaptopRevive

Ongelijkheid:
Voorkomen van ongelijkheid? Waarom dan "Het-is-maar-vmbo" die zijn te dom om een goede laptop nodig te hebben, dus is een Chromebook wel goed genoeg?
Als ze ongelijkheid een serieus probleem zouden vinden zouden ze met één model komen voor de hele school.

BYO, Vrijheid & Privacy:
Dat "Bring Your own" veel nadelen kent heeft deze school wel gelijk in. Waar ze de plank volledig mis slaan is dat de ouders dan maar de ICT en support voor de school moeten betalen. Zo werkt het niet. Als een school specifieke computers met een specifiek OS voorschrijf dient de school dat in te kopen, DPIA's uit te voeren en verwerkersovereenkomsten af te sluiten voor het besturingssysteem en alle andere software die school erop (laat) zetten. Dit is dan gewoon lesmateriaal en moet dus net als schoolboeken aan leerlingen worden verstrekt.

Als een school kiest voor Bring Your own, dan heb je ook het recht om te bepalen wat voor OS en software daarop draait. Je hoeft het beheer van jouw laptop niet aan school over te dragen, net zomin als dat je je huissleutels aan school moet geven.

I find it interesting that #valve has not offered a #barebones SKU of the #steammachine - if a user has a stick of #ram or a spare #ssd lying around that would have been a win. I understand that they wanted a complete #console experience, but there are people who'd have jumped at that DIY/cost saving option.

Of de school stelt een computer ter beschikking (conform AVG met verwerkersovereenkomsten, DPIA's correcte implementatie van technische handleidingen, enz)

Of de school heeft een BYO-beleid en dan bepaal je zelf wat erop draait en met welke partijen je een overeenkomt wil aangaan, of juist niet wil aangaan.
