Experimenting with #Kasts because Husband asked me about #Podcast apps for his newly linuxed computer. It took me a surprising amount of very specific searching to find, but seems to be a nice, intuitive client for #KDE that does what it says on the box.

#Kasts is a gorgeous and great #podcast player. I installed it on #UbuntuMate #2404 as a #snap and it works great.

A little while ago, I rescued an old #laptop from becoming #ewaste. The keyboard is a little wonky, but it is more for consuming than typing so that is ok. I am running #Ubuntu #MATE #2404, and it is solid and fast enough. #Snaps are nice because I can split tunnel them with #PIA #VPN and cannot with #Flatpacks but, if you know how, please let me know. Two apps I have been enjoying of late on this machine are #Kasts for #podcasts and #FreeTube for ad free YouTube.

@utopify_org Podcasts support is amazing with KDE #Kasts except that it does not support podcasting 2.0 features yet.

Any device not in the community category is probably not worth your time, unless you have the knowledge and skill to tinker with it and make it work.

Trying to connect #kasts with #antennapod via (conterized) #opodsync . What worked, is that both have the full list of podcasts. What is not working, is the sharing of the state of individual episodes.
Get a transfer error when I want to sync with Kasts and an unnamed error when I want to sync with AntennaPod.

I love the #Kasts #KDE app but it's so buggy at times. Especially when updating your podcast feeds. It will just crash and disappear.

#Kasts 24.05.0 has been released a few weeks ago.

Highlights for this release are:
- Chapter marks in the play position slider
- Double-clicking on the systray icon to pause/unpause playback
- App-based proxy settings
- Persistent filters on episode lists, e.g. to show only unplayed episodes
- Interval-based automatic check for new podcast episodes
- Option to show the podcast name on episodes in lists
- Option to show the podcast image instead of the episode image in lists

@ecksearoh Ok, that would also make sense, because that version depends on other brand new KF6/Qt6 packages. There's bound to be teething problems due to the KDE6 megarelease packaging.

Probably the best starting point is to start #Kasts from the command line. I bet the qml engine will be complaining about missing modules.

@ecksearoh If I may ask: which #Kasts version is this? And is it the distro package or flatpak or ...?
