He fusses over the little details that are very important when doing UI/UX design properly. He also made sure the themes worked properly on various Gtk desktop environments, including Cinnamon, MATE, and Xfce (three of the best DEs, in my humble opinion).

He also mentions the qt6gtk2 plugin for Qt which I did not know about. It translates Gtk themes to Qt themes so all of your applications, whether they use Gtk or Qt, have the correct theme. This is extremely useful since the impedance mismatch between Qt and Gtk is the biggest source of UI/UX inconsistencies in Linux apps.

...and yet it constantly happens that while I'm typing, I accidentally brush against the touchpad and suddenly I'm typing somewhere completely different (often obliterating a whole section of text because it interpreted the brush as a select for some reason, even though I didn't actually click).

I have to ask: what does "while typing" even mean, then? Is it, like, the 50 msec during which I'm pressing down each key, and then the tenths or hundredths of a second between keystrokes are counted as "not typing"? Why isn't there a "delay" or "hysteresis" setting? :blobcatupsidedown:

This is great news- a 6 year old bug in Ubuntu Mate & Xubuntu was fixed- seemingly randomly .deb packages launched from the web browser wouldn't install; they'd launch GDebi to do the install, and then they'd disappear. This time around there’s a newbie in the pack: Ubuntu Cinnamon, welcomed into the Ubuntu flavour family back in March after several years as an unofficial Ubuntu remix.
