@poetaster Seems to be #JP2026 specific. This change worked out on #JollaC2 on same SailfishOS version 5.2.0.17. [Alt: Image of editing toot in #Tooter same version with SFOS same version inserting "fuckery-free" before pressing toot button, which works in contrast to it did nothing inbeween those two consecutive spaces on #JollaPhone2026.]

While I'm on a roll I would like a #Swype style keyboard for #Sailfish and on-device voice dictation would be nice but neither was available last time I checked.

Hardware wise I can now cope ok without fingerprint scanner or NFC on the #JollaC2 - minor inconveniences not to have them.

Oh and if #Jolla's next handset was #RISCV that would be great too although that might be limiting for apps, both under #AppSupport and in the Jolla app store I guess. I can dream...

I'm still unsure on navigation map options. I have #OSMScout and #MagicEarth (Although that does occasionally crash). I love #Waze but it's owned by Google.

Will probably install #osmand at some point which is also fantastic at walking route.

It does suck that the GPS is pretty terrible on this device without the MicroG GPS assistance though.

Got most of my apps on the #JollaC2 now including #Pixeldroid and #Tusky which (along with #OpenCamera) makes it more usable use as a daily driver. Would be nice to have good narive apps for it at some point bjt this setup is good for now.

Will leave anything I use for work (Slack/GitHub) off it, and anything Google (Sailpipe for youtube is on there thanks to @flypig - hopefully that will get download support at some point for offline use)

Defintely liking #OpenCamera on the #JollaC2. at the moment. The self-levelling feature is useful and picture quality feels better than on the default #Sailfish camera app.

I was trying the #Jolla #JollaC2 as a daily driver some time ago but unfortunately for me it wasn't really fit for the job: Too slow and the custom software stack with nearly no apps being available simply did not work.

The #Furilabs (@furilabs) #Debian and #Phosh based phone really might cut it though: Really good #Android support in a #Linux container for all those apps that I (think I) need (even a lot of the banking apps are working) and of course for all the rest I can easily install Linux apps.

Really nice!

@Muppensish sorry i have cognitive difficulties and got confused. it's NOT an xperia it's a #jollaC2 phone, an open source phone from a small company in finland. they use #sailfish only in their phones.

Trying to use my #JollaC2 more. Not quite a daily driver, but using it when I want to disconnect (as it disconnects from wifi often 😆). The lag makes me doom scroll less. It's still clunky, but ebooks are fine on the big screen. Just downloaded #Kalevala! Well made #SailfishOS apps are a joy to use.

This is going to mean:
- No banking apps (but websites are ok of course)
- No navigation with live traffic updates (I'll be late for things, but I don't want to install Google-owned Waze on it)
- No WhatsApp (You can't have it on multiple devices
- While I do have Facebook messenger installed, no other notifications from Facebook as it's only available in the browser
- No NFC payments ...
- Ropey GPS
(I don't use tiktok so despite the previous post that isn't a concern)

@jgibbon old or otherwise, I agree with your nitpicking list! :D

The original JP01 was just a joy to hold, with the two-halves design, great size (slightly bigger is ok, like the first community phone #JollaC, but not huge like C2), and laggy or not you just want to keep the phone in your hand. Not so with the #JollaC2 for reasons you stated.

Now that @jolla is planning the #nextgenjollaphone with input from community, there's hope for nicer HW to match #SailfishOS! https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/next-gen-jolla-phone-update-11-25/25503

#SailfishOS update on my #JollaC2. I wish I could enjoy Sailfish more on this device like I did with previous devices but the C2 is just slow and laggy enough to put me off. Or maybe I'm getting old and cranky. Anyway, #nextgenjollaphone sounds promising! Looking forward to the progress.

@privacyguides I think #LinuxMobile is the only real path forward for freedom.

Instead of hoping in #Google, it would be better in the long run if concerned users rallied behind #Linux options (mainline or #Halium-based), and there are quite a few now, existing and upcoming.

I've been experimenting with #SailfishOS on my Xperia XA2 for some time, and I realy like its look and feel, and support of Android apps. Also the idea of European OS is tempting. The problem is that my old Xperia is slowly dying... Today, I ordered Xperia 10 III (quite familiar phone, I run 10 IV as my main device). The another option was #JollaC2 phone, but its delivery time is currently 6+ weeks. I am looking forward to #openalt2025, which also has Linux on smartphones as a topic. #jolla

Is there a way to enable IPv6 in Hotspot-Mode on @jolla #SailfishOS on #JollaC2 ?

Sadly my Homeserver only has an external IPv6 Adress, so my Jolla Phone can connect with IPv6, but my Laptop using the C2 as #Tethering hotspot can't

@ljo Fortunately my #JollaC2 has a 3.5 mm connector for a stable earphone plug connection ... but in-ear and headache makes the #NoiseCancelling over-ear headphones more attractive for complete silence right now. #OAO

I can’t wait… Hopefully the Jolla Community Phone (C2) will be delivered in 6 weeks and not 8 weeks! Or am I ending up with an early Christmas gift?

@chocrates @DeathByBigSad If you're already used to Linux desktop, I'd even venture to say that Linux phones are daily drivable for you in this order: #FLX1s from @furilabs, #JollaC2, #LibertyPhone, #Librem5, #Pinephone.

I'm daily driving a #Librem 5 with #postmarketOS and everything critical actually works for my use case.

I have had an inner fight for quite some time. Should I buy the Jolla C2 phone or not? And now, due to high demand there is a 6-8 weeks delivery time… So what now Frank?
