Меньше шума, больше смысла: опыт SESAME для Speech Enhancement

Привет, Хабр! Мы — Александр Забурдаев, Ксения Золина, Даниил Марценюк, Илья Трофименко, Илья Кулешов — студенты мастерской по сервисам и платформам ИИ в Инженерно-математической школе НИУ ВШЭ и VK. Хотим поделиться опытом, который мы накопили, пытаясь перестать кормить весь речевой сигнал одной и той же нейросети целиком, и дать разным экспертам разбираться с разными типами шума. Речь пойдёт о задаче улучшения качества речи (Speech Enhancement, SE) и о том, как получилось интегрировать в неё разреженную смесь экспертов (sparse Mixture of Experts, MoE). Это архитектура, которая в языковых моделях уже стала стандартом, а в обработке аудио до сих пор не прижилась. Модель мы назвали SESAME — Speech Enhancement with Sparse Adaptive Mixture of Experts. Она построена на базе MP-SENet. В ней стандартные полносвязные блоки внутри трансформера заменены на разреженный MoE-модуль. Код проекта доступен на GitHub . Зачем вообще понадобилась очередная модель шумоподавления, когда их и так десятки — расскажем ниже. А заодно разберём, какие трюки из мира LLM в аудио работают, а какие нет (например, Expert Choice) — и почему.

#DidYouKnow 'Open sesame' is actually a real thing? 😃

(Appropriately so, since these small-but-mighty seeds are a nutritional treasure!)

#Sesame seeds are found in four-chambered (locules) capsules, and are dispersed by dehiscence (new word for me!) or 'shattering' - upon maturity, sesame pods split open.

This can be driven by changes in humidity ('hygroscopic movement'), where as moisture in the plant evaporates & the plant dries, it bends and twists, and pods split open.

In sesame pods, initially the capsule splits at the top, creating an opening to each of the four locules. The walls of each locule bend outward, then split and twist as the seed falls from the capsule - and the process keeps accelerating.

As the researchers wrote: 'the non-uniform relative thickness of the layers promotes a graded bi-axial bending, leading to the complex capsule opening movement.'

(Now y'all know why I kept a separate science account! 😄 )

Is anyone in my bubble attending #JCDL2025 (ACM/IEEE Joint Conference on Digital Libraries, fully online)? I'm supposed to present a paper at the #SESAME workshop about metadata extraction.

The conference is starting Dec 15th, but there is still no information about the program, not even the day of the workshops or the time zone. My e-mails are not being answered. Is everything all right? Do I dare to register for the workshop and conference?
