  24. Updated @voyager1 and @voyager2 position predictions via NASA’s BSP kernels (because the original web source I used has gone AWOL.)

There’s about a 0.005% variance in Earth distance from the numbers you’ll see on various web pages. Apologies.

  25. Going to update the extrapolation data for @voyager1 and @voyager2 tonight - this will mean that they appear to go backwards tomorrow because the original extrapolation data (from NASA!) was over-optimistic but they've taken that data down for "fine-tuning". In the meantime, we're going to be using another source which matches the numbers NASA are currently showing.

    apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap260623.ht

"What would it look like to fly past Triton, the largest moon of planet Neptune? Only one spacecraft has ever done this -- and the images of this dramatic encounter have been gathered into a video. In 1989, the Voyager 2 robotic spacecraft shot through the Neptune system with cameras blazing. Triton is slightly smaller than Earth's Moon but has ice volcanoes and a surface rich in frozen nitrogen."

  40. After 48 years, 9 months, 18 days, 22 hours, and 2 minutes, Voyager 2 is approximately 21.6 billion km (13.4 billion miles) from the Earth.

    That's 144.664 au or, at the speed of light, 20h 03m 08s.

From the Sun, Voyager 2 is approximately 21.4 billion km (13.3 billion miles or 143.092 au.)

Velocity relative to the Earth is about 28 km/sec (~62,999 mph); to the Sun about 15 km/sec (~33,642 mph.)

Voyager 2 has no thoughts today.
