Pressemitteilung NASA. #JPL

  8. Kristallnacht

#Perseverance observing in the cool of the night (it's winter in Jezero, so -80 to -90°C) an apparently crystalline structure in the interior of the recent abrasion in the area north of Lac De Charmes (for lack of a named place nearby)

  10. …and a 3D version of the above, since the good people at NASA who operate #Perseverance regularly capture WATSON images from a slightly different angle, thus creating enough parallax for a stereo effect.

  18. 🛰️🌌 Engineers at #JPL deactivated a particle sensor on #Voyager 1 to preserve its remaining power levels.

The 48-year-old #spacecraft currently travels through #interstellar #space over 24 billion km (15 billion mi) away from #Earth. The power-saving measure allows the probe to continue collecting magnetic field and plasma wave data for at least one more year.

  19. Another interesting observation, here made easier with the 3D image, is that the regolith doesn't seem to stick on the underside of that stone, possibly meaning that the moist(?) part is only a few centimeters deep.
