@Umbertogaetani One thing that surprised me: I don’t see Roth et al.’s #HST work on #Europa’s #plume/water-vapor signatures cited here, nor Saur et al. or much from the Europa #SpacePlasma community.
Not fatal for their thermo-fluid model I guess, but given the broader claim about limited #ocean–#surface exchange, it feels like a gap in the framing.

Membership Levels
The membership structure consists of three levels. All three membership levels pay the same monthly dues of $60 plus #HST with different privileges for each membership level. We have a minimum 2 month membership period meaning your first and last month’s membership fees will be charged upon signup ($120 plus HST). Storage lockers are available at an additional monthly fee."

The revised analysis does not fully rule out #Europa plumes, but it substantially weakens the original #HST #Lyα evidence. After accounting for Europa’s extended #hydrogen #exosphere and improved background modeling, the previously reported localized excess emission is no longer statistically compelling.

🌖🔭Roth, Retherford, Saur et al revise their 2014 paper: In a reanalysis of 23 #HST/ #STIS #Lyα observations, the authors revisit & revise their earlier #Europa water plume interpretation.
With improved disk positioning & inclusion of a #hydrogen-#exosphere model, the previously reported localized Lyα excess becomes substantially less significant & may be consistent with noise. The data instead robustly support a persistent atomic H exosphere.
