Hoy os traigo un mito muy especial y uno de mis favoritos. Digo que es especial porque es de los pocos que tienen un final feliz.El #MitoDePigmalión, uno de los más influyentes en la cultura moderna y el mismo que inspiró el cuento de Pinocho.
Aunque los Viernes de Mitología Griega van de mitos griegos hoy haré una excepción para hablar de la única fuente que tenemos de este mito: #Ovidio. Aunque él se inspiró en una leyenda griega.
#Pigmalión era rey de Chipre muy devoto de la diosa #Afrodita (#Venus para los romanos). En Chipre habitaba un pueblo de mujeres conocido como las Propétides, quienes renegaban de #Afrodita y quienes decidieron intercambiar favores sexuales a cambio de dinero. Vamos, que se inventaron la prostitución.
Afrodita las castigó coagulándoles la sangre y convirtiéndolas en estatuas. Este castigo no era por ser pilinguis, sino por el mismo #hubris. Y, de hecho, se considera que Afrodita era la patrona de las prostitutas, aunque el concepto de prostitución ha variado tanto en Grecia como en Roma y con ciertas imprecisiones muy extendidas. Pero de esto hablamos otro día.
Volvamos a Pigmailión. Este rey era muy devoto de Afrodita y se sentía decepcionado por las Propétides y extendió esa decepción a las mujeres en general, así que decidió permanecer soltero.
Pigmalión, además de rey, era escultor, que los reyes sí parecían hacer algo al menos. Y un día se vino arriba haciendo una escultura de lo que sería su mujer ideal. Le quedó tan pibón y tan maravillosamente esculpida que parecía real. Y se enamoró de ella. El rey deseaba con toda su alma y su corazón que cobrara vida y la trataba como si fuera su esposa de verdad.
Pronto llegó el festival de Venus, también conocido como las Veneralias (celebradas en abril). Pigmalión acudió a hacer sus ofrendas a la diosa y le pidió que convirtiera a su estatua en una mujer real.

THE EARTH IS A STAR
The earth is a star. Only in my eyes, I suppose. From Venus, everything looks like a star.
The stars, real ones and the ones I made up, dance for the sun and moon. The sun requests the purest aura. But the moon beckons a much more complex ambience.
I feel more like myself when the moon hosts the star lit sky. Maybe I just have too much time to think.
I am the only inhabitant of Venus. I barely recognize the sound of my voice when I speak. I wander and wander and wander. The queen of the void.
I am not human, but I know I could be.
There’s a hollowness in me, carved out by immense loneliness. I try not to let it distract me from my wandering. I’ve circled this waste-planet numerous times. I think I could draw it from memory… Maybe I will attempt that tomorrow.
I add another tally in the scarlet sand, one for each day that dredges on. Nine thousand, four hundred and ninety-five tiny lines. Too many. I hope ten thousand will bring freedom. But my paranoia tells me it will be a curse.
I sweep my gaze around. The warm wind carries specks of crimson dust around me like a hurricane. My hair catches the cyclone, and for a split second, I could have taken flight. But as quickly as it starts, it ends.
I sigh and drag my feet through the dirt. There is nothing here that catches my eye. Venus looks as lonely as I feel. I sit upon a pile of boring, beige stone; it must be my throne. The granite is cool against my burning skin.
I look out at the vast unknown. I reach for the stars. They slide just out of my grasp. I want them to drift closer, so that I may latch onto one and ride it all the way to a new place. Somewherewith people, somewhere filled with love. My voice claws at my throat to escape, gritty and unafraid.
I scream.
Pure rage from my lonely heart, beating only to keep me—and this rage—alive.
I am just a girl and the earth is just a star.

Nach dem Trans-Lunar-Injection-Manöver fotografierte Kommandant Reid #Wiseman aus der #Orion-Kapsel den Atlantik, #Polarlichter und den Tag-Nacht-Übergang, den sogenannten Terminator.
Auch die #Venus ist auf einer Aufnahme zu sehen. Es ist die erste bemannte Mission jenseits der Erdumlaufbahn seit 1972. Die Crew soll am 10.04. zurückkehren.

Igual si habéis visto algún libro sobre ciencia planetaria o exploración espacial hayais visto las fotos en la superficie de Venus, el planeta más chungo del sistema solar con diferencia.
Tal vez os hayais dado cuenta de que suele usarse la misma o igual era una muy parecida?
Bueno, la cosa es que SOLO HAY 6 FOTOS, DE 4 MISIONES DISTINTAS DE LA SUPERFICIE DE VENUS.
Porque las sondas se convirtieron en caspa muy poco después de sacar dichas fotos. Así de chungo es Venus.(de hecho, la foto panorámica de la Venera 9 fue la primera foto tomada por humanos* de la superficie de otro planeta)
