I already went with a dedicated media center system based on KDE #PlasmaBigscreen , but I will try out CastLab as well!

I cannot wait for the updated #PlasmaBigScreen to go public. I am so sick of these "Smart TVs" and spy tools. I've used a mini-PC off and on with Linux on my TV of course with an air-mouse remote, but when guests come to visit it becomes too complicated for them...

I just hope we can save html shortcuts to the carousal wheel for those platforms my normie-guests expect to see (like disney+ & netflix).

@[email protected] It's a SBC so shipping it with an UI doesn't make much sense, although we'll probably offer #PlasmaBigscreen as an option at some point in the future.

Devices like this expect the user to do more manual configuration, including starting a UI if they need it. You'll need to install a display manager, postmarketOS normally uses LightDM for X-based UI's but it can be anything.

Does anyone know of a foss set top box for TVs?
I know about #PlasmaBigScreen, but am not sure about its current state.

Then this weekend it's #Akademy and my RockPro64 should arrive to start helping with @kde and #PlasmaBigscreen !

I've been packaging #mycroft for Alpine Linux lately and finally got it to talk to me after I asked it a question today. Hopefully we can run it on our phones and maybe even TV's (#plasmabigscreen) soon!
