How does KDE Connect impact battery life on the phone?
It does more, but since it's always running, I'm curious how significant it's impact.

thanks to #kdeconnect / #gsconnect and #unison I have a #syncthing like experience.
I only have to start the sync manually via terminal, which actually is ok.
Because my wife uses only her smartphone, I can sync weekly my digital heritage (all the important files in #cryptomator) to her phone.
This way she has all the stuff she needs in case a an accident or death.#linux or #foss is so great, because you find easy and family friendly solutions without the cloud

Man... #Android
Ok, I have this love/hate relationship with #mobile #hardware. I... mostly ignore my #phone. I have an R8 and a #DAC and I ignore most of my phone calls. Since I've been using #LineageOS with no google apps for so long, I don't really care about banking apps or payment apps. I have plastic cards. Don't we all?
It's for this reason I was so ready to accept #Matrix and #XMPP, considering between them and #kdeconnect, I can continue any discussions on my desktop that I had on my phone, and mostly leave my phone behind, hell, even my steam deck.
So when it comes time that I probably, really, responsibly SHOULD upgrade my phone, I'm such a groaning old boomer about it, because I couldn't possibly care less about what phone I carry and I'm never ready to forcibly spend $300... again, for something I'll immediately hate, because Android hasn't gotten better since 2016 due to enshitty #google.
So, I think... this time, I've decided to just keep ignoring it. I carry a #Oneplus 7 pro, and I have a Oneplus 6 that's solid that I can use as a backup if the #OP7pro dies. Sure, there's the whole issue that maybe my device drivers have a bug that's been exploited by hackers at this point because #Lineage only updates Android, not firmware... but, really, even the companies you buy your phone from are maliciously #spying on you. Why should my care start at random hackers, but stop at everyone everyone else that fingerprints me?
The real use I have of my phone is my mom letting me know if she or the place we rent are in danger while I'm at work, or out and about, or if I get lost or mauled by a bear in the woods because my natural safe-place is a hiking trail. That's about it. Does it take decent photos? Don't care. Screen? Don't care. Performance? Don't care... to a point. Base, utilitarian performance is well and good. I'm not gaming on it.
I'm just so jaded with it all. Maybe I'll go #motorola this round so I can have a Lineage-capable phone that doesn't cost me much to have recent hardware.

Instala en todos los windows y tu cellular #KDEconnect. Con eso intercambias archivos entre equipos de la misma red WIFI con dos clicks.fue fácil conectar internet desde #Linux, aunque Mozilla no anda.
bien, tomate una semana con el #USB asi como esta para investigar el linux que tiene. para conocer, comprender y familiarisarte. Despues probamos la superficie #XFCE.Había dejado de usar la #notebook con #win7 para el trabajo porque tiene 12 años y es lenta la placa de video. Pero tuve un problema con la licencia de #Autocad en la #PC de escritorio y ahora necesito usar ambas PC.
Desinstala de la notebook todos los programas, incluyendo antivirus, navegadores, email, todo todito y daja solo autocad.
Terminaras usando un pendrive por si acaso cuando viajas con tu laptop o visitas clientes para poder usar #internet con LINUX y punto.Consegui un disco usado barato pero en buen estado para la compu para instalar en el linux. Asi tendras el disco de #win10 existente como esta en un disco y linux en el otro. Cuando arancas la compu te preguntara arancar LINUX o windows y ta. Borra las conatrasenias de wifi de las instalaciones windows, asi no pueden entrar mas en internet y estaras seguro ante ataques externos. De ahi en adelante el unico peligro sera a traves de archivos que tu envies desde KDEconect o ingresen desde USB o CD\DVD.
Mi temor es que deje de funcionar en ambas con esto del fin del soporte.
Despreocupate.
Lo que funciona funciona.
Mas aun si no tienen mas accesso a tu instalacion desde internet.
Lo de fin de soporte es respecto a virus y bugs. Sin internet el peligro es practicamente cero. Sin programas "comunes" como #Office y #Excel dificil que te lleguen archivos malignos o que dichos archivos tengan angulos de ataque.Solamente tenes que asegurarte de que las "descargas de modelos 3D de muebles, etc." sean de fuentes fiables.
No estoy segura de invertir todo el tiempo que veo requiere hacer funcionar Linux.
No lo dudes, no te arepentiras jamas. postaYa es molesto intercambiar archivos de una PC Windows a la otra para pasar de Autocad a 3D y viceversa
KDEconnect resuelve eso. La ventaja es que siempre tenes copias de seguridad en diferentes equipos. Eso vale muchismo.para además agregar un tercer escritorio con Linux.
Simplemenet tenes que entender y acceptar de que:
LINUX = Internet
Windows = trabajo de escritorio e diseñoCuanto vale manejo de dinero seguro?
Internet es manejo de dinero.

Brad Linder of Liliputing published an article titled How to use laptop or tablet as a touchpad (and keyboard) for a Windows PC. He turned an Amazon Fire Max 11 tablet into a touchpad and keyboard using a proprietary app called Unified Remote (which also required setting up Google Play Store on the Fire tablet). I was surprised he did not mention my preferred solution. KDE Connect is free, open source, and can allow Android devices to function as touchpads and keyboards (I previously covered some of my favorite open source Android apps). I seldom use it for that purpose (my main KDE Connect use-case is sending and receiving SMS messages from my computer), but it works well. Moreover, people with Fire tablets can install KDE Connect without needing to mess around with Google Play Store.
I will note in a small aside that I have only used KDE Connect on Linux PCs. While I understand that it is available for Windows, I am not certain that it works exactly the same as on Linux.

I am almost certain that you are never ever obligated to provide the actual messages, because this seems to be an network communication error totally unrelated to the SMS in question.
Do be so kind to at least check out what you have to provide in the bug reports without doing anything. Please tell me if I am wrong or correct with my assumption, when you have had the time to do so

This is one of the many powerful Network tools that you get when you install KDE connect on your Android devices.
As you can see here I am playing back AntennaPod and controlling it over the network which is built with a battery powered Wi-Fi router / gateway connecting my Android devices.

Also #KDEConnect ist schon was feines und macht #Warpinator schon überflüssig. Beides ist tolle Software und #FOSS. Vorteil von Warpinator ist, man schaltet es ein, überträgt die Daten, schaltet aus. Spart Strom.
KDEConnect ist dauerhaft aktiv und verbraucht Strom. Vorteil hier: Vieeel mächtiger und mehr Möglichkeiten. -
Stavo pensando: da ora che ho la tastiera più piccolina per il #PC, e mi sa che mi trovo parecchio meglio ad usare lo #smartphone come #touchpad (per certi versi più comodo del #mouse normale per me) rispetto a quando avevo quella grossa, potrei quasi quasi comprarlo un touchpad #USB… 😁️
E però oh, non si trovano a un prezzo decente, né su Amazon né su AliExpress, eccetto per uno micragnoso brutto minuscolo (che comunque per il #prezzo è un insulto eh)… #mannaggia!!! E persino da alcuni cinesi locali non ho trovato; forse dovrei cercare meglio in tutti, ma a questo punto neanche ho la certezza di trovare qualcosa, figuriamoci di bono. 😩️
Altrimenti, questa è forse la volta buona che trovo un utilizzo pratico per il mio vecchio #Huawei distrutto, che sta nel cassetto a marcire (il vetro c’ha lo #spacc, ma il #digitizer funziona, e al tatto non c’è problema perché c’è una pellicola intatta sopra)… perché certamente col telefono primario, che mi serve per altro ed è pure bello cicciotto non posso andare avanti così. Preferirei comunque un vero touchpad però perché #KDEConnect #lagga, a meno di trovare #app alternative (o forse mi basta collegare il #telefono al PC con il #tethering USB?) 🐁️

Macht mich supersauer, sowas.Ich hab schon beim Lesen, bevor überhaupt der Absatz zum Wettbewerbsrecht kam, gedacht, dass das Wettbewerbsverzerrung ist und Monopolbildung, was rechtlich unzulässig ist.
Jetzt weiss ich, warum ich die meisten Google Sachen an meinem Tablet deaktiviert hab und unter anderem froh bin, ein Tablet zu haben ohne neuere Softwareupdates (weil halt alt). Manchmal ist alt echt viel besser als neu... 😅
Für mich wär das ne Katastrophe, wenn KDE Connect nicht mehr gehen würde. Ich mach superviel mit der App und nutzt die jeden Tag mehrmals.
Macht mich echt richtig sauer, sowas. Auch wenn ich ein Glück nicht betroffen bin. -

Alternativ nehme ich auch Tipps entgegen, wie man den #SayonaraPlayer fernsteuert, Browser URL zeigt nur Gibberish an, 🤷
