👩🏻‍💻 my so-called sudo life - day 490: #KindleJailbreak edition 🆓

Regarding yesterday's post on the Kindle jailbreak: it is SO WORTH it.

I hope I didn't discourage anyone by saying how much I struggled with it. Well, I had a 15 YEAR OLD device and the online tutorials didn't work with it. I finally managed to install KUAL after finding a Reddit thread that gave step-by-step advice for the Kindle 4 gen.

I was really bummed that highlighting didn't work for it so I bit the bullet and got my hands on the cheapest e-reader I could find yesterday: a Kindle 11 gen with ads.

Mind you, I'm in the Italian countryside at the moment and it's a miracle they had it in stock at my local superstore. I would have preferred a Kobo but it is what it is.

Jailbreaking a recent Kindle is child's play. I was happy to see that it was not on the latest firmware, so it was easily jailbreakable.

So:

1. jailbreaking it
2. installing a HotFix to prevent OTA updates
3. installing KUAL
4. installing KOreader
5. installing SimpleUI
6. removing ads
7. installing custom transparent wallpapers
8. transferring books to it

took a little over an hour. Easy peasy.

The backlight was great at 2:30am (I was woken up by my child coughing and couldn't easily fall back asleep). Very happy that I can do highlights in KOreader and now the ultimate test is how I can transfer the highlights to my computer / Calibre.

Finally jailbroke my Kindle & installed KOreader.

If you have a Kindle 1st and 2nd Generation, Kindle DX and DX Graphite, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle 4, Kindle Touch, Kindle 5, and Kindle Paperwhite 1st Generation, you should know that on May 20th, Amazon will be disabling the ability to use your Kindle, with the exception of books already on the device, and if you factory reset it, you won't be able to sign back in, turning it in to a Kindle Paperweight.

They're also disabling the Kindle PC application on June 30th.

Now's the time to Jailbreak your Kindle while you can still reset it if you fuck up, because afterwards the stakes are going to be way higher.

And never forget that you don't own the hardware you bought and paid for. Right, Amazon?

Nie od dziś wiadomo, że agenty AI da się zmanipulować. Można ukrywać niebezpieczne polecenia dla AI w instrukcjach formatowania Markdown albo LaTeX (tzw. (indirect) prompt injection). Można też zatruwać wiedzę w systemach RAG albo tworzyć tzw. pułapki przeciążeniowe. Co jakiś czas trafiamy na publikacje dotyczące takich rzeczy i czasami mają one charakter zaledwie ciekawostki i o takich piszemy tylko na naszym Twitterze — w ogóle to tam publikujemy najwięcej i najczęściej, umieszczamy tam treści, których nie znajdziecie na żadnym innym naszym kanale w social mediach — więc dodajcie nas do obserwowanych na Twitterze). Ale innym razem obserwacje z tego tematu dotykają naprawdę poważnych zagrożeń.
Piątka badaczy z Google DeepMind podjęła próbę stworzenia klasyfikacji Pułapek na Agenty AI (AI Agent Traps). Klasyfikacja bazuje na funkcjach agentów AI, w które wymierzone są ataki. Sami badacze podkreślają, że klasyfikacja doskonała nie jest, gdyż prawdziwe ataki mogą wykorzystywać wiele mechanizmów jednocześnie. Badacze zaproponowali podział pułapek na 6 kategorii, które opisujemy poniżej.

Ich sollte auf der FB die Tasten Down + Menu gleichzeitig drücken, bis LED schnell blinkt, ABER dann musste ich Menü + Play/Pause Taste drücken um in den DFU Modus zukommen.

Ansonsten läuft es nicht und leider fehlt der Hinweis im Program, dass man Menu + Play dann noch drücken muss.

Am TV dauert es nochmal 10-15 Minuten bis Kodi erscheint. Sollte man wissen 😎✌️
