I used Pmbootstrap to install PostmarketOS onto my RockPro64. You pick a variety of options and settings then you choose which disk to install it to and whether you want fde or not. wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Install... #postmarketos #pine64 #rockpro64

I didn't die.
But my #ISP (Hi #Xfinity) decided that it was entitled to wait a week to fix it.
Then I found out my modem died, even though it lit up it couldn't connect to anything..
The Ethernet ports of the router stopped working.
A Single-Board Computer ( #SBC #RockPro64 ) attached by Ethernet died, which controlled my NAS.
The Ethernet port on my mobo died.
Then my mobo died, probably taking everything with it.
So I needed to buy a new computer and new NAS.Also I really wish a non-Xfinity #ISP could serve our area, that'd be great.

Conclusion: Linux 6.6 broke something and uboot can't deal with it
Tried 23.01, 23.07, 23.10, 24.01
All failed to boot 6.6.8Downgraded kernel to 6.5.13 and it came up fine
Still need to test another platform (like quartz64 or rock64) but this is my result on rockpro64

@the_etrain Depends on architecture... On my #rockpro64 I use #uboot on SPI chip as BIOS. If something goes wrong, I just need to short two pins and boot from sdcard instead of SPI.

The #OpenWrt setup for the #ROCKPro64 was super easy, just had to quickly iptable my laptop in order to download a kernel module for #solarflare, now the SFP card works like a charm and at least the first transceiver I found at hand did not complain about vendor lock.
I will later play around a bit more but first need to pick up some Cisco transceivers (for the other end) at the postal office.

I highly prefer most #freedom, in the #FOSS sense of the word.
But also I want a good #performance.
Should I go for a #raspberry pi 4 8GB, or a #ROCKpro64 with 4GB by #pine64?
Or should I go for an #ODROID board?

Current status: reading all logs/issues/chatter on the RockPro64 [1] + Guix System [2] combination.
[1] A type of miniature computer. More precisely, the main component of one.
[2] A computer operating system. -
My pet project to turn a #pine64 #rockpro64 into a #picroft #mycroft using the V1 AIY Voicehat by Google seems to have hit a wall. The Voicehat driver is no longer in the kernel and even if it was it seems the driver was written in a BCM specific way even though there's nothing broadcom specific about it and the Rockpro has the same 40 pin bus.
Ordered an inexpensive USB speakerphone to continue testing bout would have loved to get the hat working.

Another question for the #fediverse: with #raspberrypi still out of stock everywhere, what are some quality SBCs I could use in it's place that are currently available for purchase? I think I'd go with a #RockPro64 if it were capable of PoE

does anyone here have any experience with the #rockpro64? im planning on building a small home NAS, with #jellyfin for streaming.
the setup would be:
3x1tb drives in raid5
a rockpro64 with an IOcrest 4 port sata card
running #debian :debian: minimal install, with #kicksecure
all placed inside a pelican case (or any case like that)would love you guys' input or any tips/advice:)

According to https://gadgetversus.com/processor/rockchip-rk3399-vs-rockchip-rk3566/ the more recent #Quartz64 has a weaker #CPU than #RockPro64...
What am I missing? 😅
