    Yeah, that's way deeper magic than #VNC provides, unfortunately.

    Honestly, X11 forwarding is the closest to that, but then you're still browsing files on the server, rather than your local machine.

    Of course, my answer to the latter conundrum is to just use a cloud drive for all my storage on that machine, so files I save from #QuickBooks (the only thing I use that machine for) appear on my local linux machine after about a minute.

    So, between just running QB maximized and using Goog Drive for syncing my work files, vnc is ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh good enough. :BlobFoxLaugh:​

    Just imagine an alternate universe where Gnome didn't go hell bent for leather to re-invent the wheel, and they kept polishing and polishing Gnome2.

    That's precisely what Maté is.

    I'm not a huge fan of Ubuntu, but Ubuntu Maté (even in a VM) is probably the best way to experience it.

  9. @thewk BTW somebody pointed out the layout to me in late 2019. Been using and loving it since. It's basically an US layout with ä=AltGr+a etc.

    Easy to get into without too much relearning (compared to or ) and having the benefit of programming relevant keys being accessible far better than on DE keyboard layout.

  18. Spent the morning playing around with subsonic and ultrasonic as well as with an old 300GB hdd holding some mp3s from when you still had those. I now have a selfhosted music server and am planning to ditch spotify soon.

  19. Update on this litlle project. After it worked again I decided to to decalcify it completely so the pipes would be clean to. That lead to the brewing part of it being filled with chunks and no water passing. You can disassemble that thing completely. I found this years ago and would like to share it, it has been a great help ever since.

    I know about , but am not sure about its current state.
