#pine64 support seem to be trolling me. I reported that wifi chip stopped working within ~15 minutes, and their response so far has been:
- Gaslight me and try to convince me there is no problem
- Try to convince me my phone wasn't charged enough for wifi+bt chip to work.
- Try to convince me that even though battery is charged, it doesn't have "enough voltage" just for this one chip while everything else works
It is almost as if they just want me to go away and stop complaining.

@fabio @lambdacalculus @postmarketOS I love #postmarketOS but so many devices and no official support from a single vendor!
In contrast, #FLX1s from @furilabs works good enough for most people, and currently appears to be a good option to recommend.

Today a 14 year old wrote an email proudly explaining how they installed #postmarketOS on their Acer Chromebook, and asking if I could send some stickers to their postal address. I invited them to #FrOSCon (where they could get a lot of stickers!), since that's a family-friendly event, and otherwise said I would try. They replied very happy to get a reply from a pmOS maintainer, and "see you in Sankt Augustin".
I'm just so happy I made the day of this kid :D

Ich plane #ustech weitestmöglich den Rücken zu kehren und suche daher noch nach einer Alternative zu #Grapheneos Pixels. -
Nach kurzer Recherche festgestellt das die Matrix Signal Bridge und #Flare von @schmiddionmobile
die Optionen sind die man hat um Signal stabil unter #postmarketos laufen zu lassenZumindest wenn man kein #Waydroid will. Das hat mich im Test nicht überzeugt.
Letzte Hoffnung Google macht das Offene Android so schnell kaputt (https://keepandroidopen.org) das Signal reagiert und endlich! einen nativen Linux client raus bringt.

#libcamera 0.7 really improved my camera experience on the OnePlus 6 running #postmarketOS edge.
Not only do the results look better, there's also no more 'take a picture, end up in crashdump' happening, which almost as important.
(I am using Plasma Camera with @nekocwd's cameractrl.) -

After the upgrade to #postmarketOS v25.12 on my #OnePlus6 I've noticed a far more and better Bluetooth experience. Before I often had to reboot to turn it on again, now toggling BT power works without any issues 👏

https://jekentaite.netI'm still a beginner developer (pls roast me), the site is not super accessible unfortunately, but I managed to self-host the page on a Oneplus 6 running #postmarketos . For security reasons, I yet have to figure out a script to pause charging once the phone is fully charged, I also need to clean and categorize my 'sketchbook' page, and finish my #documentation on its setup, but one step after another...
Point is, I am looking for a junior #job or (paid) #internship in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, preferably, but not necessarily, covering my skill set of animation, motion design, visual art in general, OR my newly acquired skills of basic webdev/sysadmin work, event production/facilitation, educational roles.
Important for me is gaining work experience inside a cultural institution or ethical :permacomputing: studio before pursuing a master's degree towards media studies.Any leads are greatly appreciated! #FediHire :boost_anim_vanilla:

Some non-US company needs to build a hardware phone set around Postmarket OS and just 'get on with it'. There's an obvious appetite for something other than Google Android or Apple iOS phones.
I mean, the OS is there just waiting; throw some professional engineering effort around power management, cameras, and UX and it's a good jump into a practical, commodity phone that is open with a lot of heavy lifting already done. If that corp was practical and ethical it even could be a decent technology and social "good".
In Canada I'd hope a company like BlackBerry could do something like this but, do they even make hardware anymore, do they exist in the mobile space? If they exist would they even still have the talent to pull off something like this?
It doesn't have to be an expensive premium device, it just needs to be decent enough, affordable device with open software like an unencumbered browser, tethering, ability to run Signal...

But as a glimmer of light, I have good news. I'll soon start working on getting xiaomi-beryllium (poco f1) to work with postmarketOS, in this case it means fixing broken buttons to unbrick the device.
