Hey y’all. Asking for a friend here. What headphones do y’all suggest that plug into a computer via USB-A or headphone jack? Needs to have a good mic that sounds good. Looking to spend about $80 max.

🎙️ Hey everyone! Exciting news — I've just launched a brand new podcast with some brilliant people, and I'd love for you to give it a listen!
🎧 THE TECH DOC PODCAST 🎧
What's up DOC?!
Meet the power-hungry Doc. The commander Doc. Two rebel Docs constantly plotting technological mayhem. And the captain Doc desperately trying to stop it all going off the rails.
Minor detail: they're all blind or vision impaired. 👀
Once a month, Stuart, Jackie, Jade, Ken and Pat gather their collective wisdom (and questionable decision-making skills) to poke, prod, test, break, and occasionally understand the tech that's meant to make life easier.
From apps that behave… to gadgets that absolutely do not… nothing is safe.
It's tech talk. It's chaos. It's lived experience. It's TECH DOC! 🔥

Nothing derails a budget faster than good intentions and a forgotten spreadsheet.
As someone who’s blind and has always cared a lot about budgeting, I’ve never found spreadsheets to be a great long-term solution. I would usually start off strong, but once I was out and about, it became too easy to forget to update the sheet, and before long the whole budget would fall apart.
Having a budget is one of the most helpful things anyone can do for their finances. It gives you a clear picture of where your money is going, makes it easier to save, and helps break bad spending habits if you give it time and stick with it.
After trying a lot of tools, the one I’m genuinely grateful to have found is You Need a Budget (YNAB). It has completely changed the way we manage our money. The iPhone app is accessible, the Android app is too (as far as I know), and the browser version works fairly well—though I personally prefer the mobile app because it lets me track spending wherever I am.
You can link your bank and credit card accounts or manage everything manually if you’d rather keep it separate. If you’re looking for better money management, it’s absolutely worth a look. I’m including a link that gives you a 34-day trial. I strongly recommend using the whole month before deciding if it fits your style.
Getting started can feel a little overwhelming, but there are plenty of YouTube videos that walk you through it. For screen reader users, the concepts are easy to follow and translate well to the accessible parts of the app. I’ve even been thinking about creating a YNAB tutorial specifically for screen reader users.
I truly believe in this program, and at this point I’m confident it’s the budgeting tool I’ll be using for the long haul.
As promised, here is the link.Oh, hi! You've been invited to try YNAB! During your free month you'll gain a clearer picture of your finances so you can spend on the things that matter to you. Ready to (dare we say) love your spending? Tap the link to get started. https://www.ynab.com/our-free-34-day-trial/?utm_source=customer_referral&utm_campaign=mobile_share

forget the word convenience even exists. "convenience" is just accessibility that you feel that you personally don't need and no two people's conveniences are the same (for example, due to my ADHD my calendar is not a convenience or a simple productivity tool, it is a critical accessibility tool -- if I don't have it, the routine of my life falls apart).
tell me why your ableist ass gets the option of cruise control but it's lazy if someone parks in a handicapped spot but is able to walk into the store.

Our CEO Troy Otillio is on the ground in São Paulo this week for the World Blindness Summit & WBU General Assembly. The theme says it all: “A fragile world, an unbreakable movement—together towards inclusion.” 🌎✈️
The event spans a Technical-Scientific Congress, an Assistive Technology Fair, Poster Exhibitions, and the WBU General Assembly, with multilingual access and on-site accessibility measures throughout. As a leader in accessible technology solutions, we’ll be working to connect with key organizations and agencies advocating for accessibility, strengthen global access and partnerships, and help shape perspectives on what is possible in assistive technology today.
Stay tuned for updates on the excitement, speakers, presentations, and more!

Thank you to everyone who answered my Mac word processor questions, and to the tech wiz WhatsApp group for being so helpful. I’ve decided on Pages. It is accessible, easy to use, and works well with my Word documents. Motivation was hard today. I am still sick with this sinus infection that refuses to let go. Lack of sleep and feeling unwell have made it tough. #Blind #VoiceOver #Mac #AccessibleTech #SinusInfection

How I Windows
This post is primarily for me to describe what I do to keep some sanity in my Windows life, but I know people don’t like the ways I hack at Windows to remove this stuff, so I plan to go over other methods to obtain the same thing, so you can make an informed decision for yourself, if you care as much as me. Don’t feel like you have to do anything though. I’m mostly writing this so people know what’s out there. I’m a power user, so this is probably for power users, or people who can take care of their technology like I think I can.
### First, what I do
I use [Ame Wizard](https://ameliorated.io/), with a playbook of settings and things to remove from Windows. Currently, the two best user-facing playbooks are [Atlas OS](https://atlasos.net/) and [Revision](https://revi.cc). These will help you remove Copilot, along with Windows Defender and many other things, but the process isn’t the most user friendly. You have to use a lot of object navigation with NVDA to get through the amelioration, but it’s possible. I find these playbooks leave me with a low CPU usage but without disabling too many features. Revision is the best if you’re new and just don’t want too many issues after the fact. Ame themselves make a playbook, but IMPO unless you want to go back to 2004 it will leave you with too much missing. I need to try their new in-beta playbook though—it has a different name so maybe things have gotten better in that department.
Secondly, after amelioration,
I may still need to use [Aurora](https://github.com/azurejoga/Aurora-Windows-Optimizer), [Winaero Tweaker](https://winaerotweaker.com/), or [Explorer Patcher](https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher) along with either the Revision tool, or the tweaks in the Atlas folder, but I’ve only ever used Explorer Patcher to fix up Explorer things after I ran Ame Wizard. Aurora is useful for a few different reasons, and it’s maintained by a blind person. It’s also pretty close to playbooks as well. The reason I don’t put it in alternatives is because I assume that people will look at this thing the same way they look at playbooks.### What are some other options?
There are some other options you have, which might be less impactful in comparison but will get you close to the CPU improvements.
* First is just adding exclusions to Defender—for example, App Data, Program Files, your audio games that Windows Defender flags as a virus but are not one, etc. I’ve heard that just adding Thunderbird’s app data folder to Defender will kill a lot of accessibility slowness with Thunderbird. So why not just add the whole fucking App Data folder to it. I think it’s crazy that people don’t see a problem with this state of affairs, but moving on…
* The second option I think you have is [tricking Defender into disabling itself](https://github.com/es3n1n/no-defender). I have not tried this.
* The third option you have is [completely removing Defender from a Windows ISO](https://github.com/soncms/StripWindowsDefender). This makes amelioration such a fun experience since you don’t have to go through disabling Windows Defender.
* Lastly, you could try [tiny11 builder](https://github.com/ntdevlabs/tiny11builder), which will allow you to apply tiny11 tweaks to any ISO you download. I have not tried this.I hope you enjoyed this article and learned something new about optimizing Windows for yourself. Maybe one day AI will make this article seem pointless and old. Nah.

Mr. Grieves thought Innosearch AI was just another Amazon alternative—until it completely changed how he shops.
“I originally thought this was just an Amazon thing but the more I use it, the more I like it…”
From frustrating sites to finding the exact product (not even on Amazon!), Innosearch made it easy.
