Llevaba mucho tiempo sin cacharrear con el #selfhosting pero hoy me ha picado el gusanillo y me he montado un #searxng. Todavía me queda tunearlo bastante porque creo que me he venido arriba y le he metido demasiados motores a la vez, pero la primera impresión sin ser espectacular es correcta.

Aunque no es un selfhosting purista porque le he montado un control de acceso con Cloudflare así que he logrado un combo hit de desventajas al añadir dependencia de big tech y alta posibilidad de indisponibilidad si hay fútbol :pajara:

Mi instancia de SearXNG no funciona por el momento porque directamente blacklistearon la IP de la VPS. Ya ni siquiera se trata de un CAPTCHA como antes, sino que la IP fue bloqueada por completo tanto por Startpage como por Duckduckgo como por Brave.

Lamento las molestias y esperemos que pronto levanten el bloqueo.

I did manage to pull the SearXNG Image using Podman Desktop. I just need to do the continued reading of the documentation to properly set it up.

I ran out of time on these days off to do it...So next several days off will be when I choose to attempt to configure the SearXNG Image so I can run it correctly.

Reading the documentation for SearXNG because...I kinda forgot about what I wanted to do until I saw Podman Desktop on my computer...Good job brain, at least you remembered ROFL.

@Mehrad #Kagi isn't a charity. It's a US for-profit (afaik a Delaware "public benefit corp," but still a corporation). I think they need a non profit control though being #USA based I would still be reluctant to invest my time or give them my money. With Trump, USA or China makes no difference. For now I’ll stick with my self-hosted #searxng

Bon, c'était sympa d'utiliser #SearXNG comme moteur de recherche (sur mon propre serveur en plus !) mais cet été les blocages de requêtes et les captcha auront eu raison de moi, on a de plus en plus de recherches qui échouent parce qu'aucun moteur n'a répondu, les requêtes sont toujours retardées par la réponse la plus longue, bref c'est devenu plus chiant qu'autre chose.

Je reviens sur https://noai.duckduckgo.com du coup.

You can see in that last screenshot that Brave, startpage, and some others block searches sometimes. But easy enough to remove them in prefs, or remove slow engines to speed up the result. Very configurable.

more on the results of a random thing I searched for. I think these are pretty good. and interesting data in the side bar (collapsed by default). it will also show suggestions for better searches in that side bar, also collapsed. useful but not distracting.

Also note that for each result, it shows you where it came from.

La instalación de Pangolin en #VPS ha sido muy fácil, pero no ha sido trivial la migración de los subdominios, aunque una vez entendida la mecánica y un poco de paciencia a la hora de que se refresquen los DNS, he podido hacer que todo funcionara (#SearXNG, #WordPress, #Mastodon, #Matomo, #Nextcloud, #Wikijs, #Vaultwarden, #Excalidraw, #DrawIO, #Umami y #Mealie).

@Larvitz @jwildeboer I just re-tooled the Ansible for my "private cloud" to use the Traefik configuration from that blog post and tested it on a VM at Hetzner. 20 minutes to a private cloud with the following components:

I don't really have a media collection, so no Plex or Jellyfin here (#MediaServer)—but I'm always open to suggestions! I've gotten a bit addicted to exploring new self-hosted services! 😄

Apparently I'm not the only one annoyed by ads AI-generated content, SEO spam, and intrusive tracking on search engines. I just want to say that in 2025, a well-configured instance of SearXNG is a lifesaver. You can start by experimenting with a public instance like https://searx.bndkt.io/ and later run your own for ultimate customisability and privacy (docs at: https://docs.searxng.org/).

j'ai un soucis avec Zotop + plugin multi-account contener de Firefox. Pour configurer Zotop, j'ai besoin des cookies, j'ai donc créé un conteneur "Safe" pour Zotop. Mais du coup, depuis la page d'accueil, le texte saisie dans le champ de recherche n'est pas accessible à Zotop car pas dans le conteneur et la recherche ne se lance pas.
Je ne vois pas de solution en fait, mais c'est un point qui je pense va concerner les gens soucieux de leur vie privée.
Une idée ?
