I am reminded again today how much I appreciate apps like #BeMyEyes and #Aira. Today a fave artist posted some pics on their timeline. Previously, I'd just scroll past and miss out. Today, I enjoyed the precious pics they shared of their family enjoying the beach.

Life has been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me lately. My mom recently passed away with cancer. I spent several days in Illinois where I am from originally and came back home to South Carolina with "the crud" (a really bad cold). In spite of the circumstances, I was blessed to reconnect with family and old friends. I also put the Meta glasses thru their paces with #Aira and was able to navigate two airports using just the visual interpretation of my agent. That was an absolute rush, as I hadn't flown for quite some time. The day after I returned home to SC, I learned that I have been accepted to the #Monarch Rise Project. I had learned that applications were being accepted as my family and I were dealing with Mom's illness and almost didn't take the time to apply. I'm so glad I did, and look forward to learning more about this lifechanging #Braille technology. Through all of my recent endings and beginnings of life chapters, it has been so refreshing to read my Mastodon feed, to keep up with tech news, laugh at some jokes or appreciate the descriptions of beautiful photography from around the world. I'm grateful for this community and, as always, look forward to staying in touch. Blessings, all.

After hearing this, my verdict still is the same: #SeeingAI beats em all, by far. The new #Aira thing is very tempting, but I guess, Aira will never get to non-English-speaking countries, so... we stick with SeeingAI.

I just finished installing my first screen protector all by myself. Turns out that the prospect of my possibly messing it up was less horrifying than my 10-year-old daughter running around with an unprotected phone! It went well. Seems they're a lot easier to put on than they used to be. I did work with an #Aira agent just to help make sure it was aligned properly, which also turned out to be unnecessary as there is a notch that obviously goes toward the top of the phone. #accessibility

Had an amazing experience with #Aira this morning. I had been sent an inaccessible document last week. I’ve been putting off trying to fill it in because I was dreading trying to fill it in. I made an attempt to fill it in myself to no avail. It was a Word doc on my Mac full of tables, tick boxes, and lists. After wrestling with it for half an hour, I tried ChatGPT to fill it in. It filled in half the document and lied about filling in the rest. So I tried Google Gemini. It was no good. It wouldn’t fill it into the Word doc at all. So I wasn’t sure what to do. Then I thought of Aira. I have only started using it in the last month, so it doesn’t come to mind instinctively. I remembered that you could attach files, and so that’s what I did. Within less than five minutes, the agent had filled in the form and emailed it back to me. I am so impressed by the service they provided me. I think I would have been struggling with that form for the rest of the day if not tomorrow as well without the help I received today.

In August 2025, the #ArtificialIntelligence and the Rights of #Autistic People (#AIRA) project presented a workshop at the #Autscape conference, discussing advocacy topics with the audience of autistic people from the UK and other countries. This video shows some highlights from the workshop presentation by Willow Holloway and from a discussion on designing practical learning assignments, as well as comments from workshop participants.

AIRA is a three-year project (2023-2026) by the European Council of Autistic People (#EUCAP), funded by the European AI & Society Fund. Autscape is a founding member organisation of EUCAP.

@AiraVI It's not a paid position but I volunteer with multiple organizations as a secretary and i've used #Aira to ensure that documents are formatted properly. I've also used them in a pinch when needing to download various things needed to do my job when websites are more difficult to navigate or to expedite tasks when hurried.

I know things can be frustrating for those of us who are blind, but it's good to focus on the good parts. Thanks to #Aira and #Uber I was able to make a quick trip to #Walmart to pick up a prescription with no assistance. Love it when I can do things independently!
