Hey y’all. Question for all the sound designer folks out there… what tips, tricks, workflows, or plug-ins have made your life easier?
I’m getting back into sound design with a song I’m working on and honestly, I forgot how much fun this stuff is. Been experimenting with movement, space, textures, transitions, automation, all of it.
I’ve heard of plug-ins that can make sounds feel super immersive and almost “3D” around your head. I know Logic Pro has built-in spatial audio tools and binaural stuff. Curious what y’all are using these days, especially for:
• Easy automation workflows
• Creative movement/panning
• Ambient textures
• Sound transitions
• Accessible workflows if any blind producers are on hereI’m doing this project in REAPER right now and just wanna learn from everybody’s setups and experiences.

a synth-soaked ambient piece with accordion
Accordions belong anywhere in any genre. No musical borders. That's my contention and I'm sticking with it. :-)
For music nerds, the time signature is 7/4. The accordion is a musette tuned Weltmeister Achat. The synths sounds are all in GarageBand (the free Apple app) which just goes to show that possibilities are endless if you have a creative streak and like to play with sonic landscapes.

this was my lucky access to Buchla modules on Monday. Complex waveform generator, verbos multi-envelope, and source of uncertainty. quad function generator also particularly fun. Recorded over an hour of fiddling with these toys ehem modules when a student was absent. Happy the conservatoire has these tools but not many students show interest unless prompted.
On another note normally I find it so hard to get on with keyboards as a non-piano player. Guitarist. Different background. There is much to appreciate here. I have dedicated an upcoming episode in my podcast on pioneering electronic music composers to Subotnick and Buchla. even ADSR envelopes can be piano based in most synths but look at this… So much space for experimentation. Open space.

Born from the desire to create a truly unique live experience, ALEA(s) deliver immersive, improvised performances that blend live drawing, projected video animation and complex electronic music into one intense, tightly‑crafted show. Made with firmware version 5.0.0.2084, but none of these particular patches make use of the new sampler/granular features, so they may work with older versions, I’m not sure. Released under the Anti-Capitalist Soundware License.

Wow so Daniel Miller got his MiniKorg 700S in 1977 for 200 pounds which would be about $1500 today to make Warm Leatherette, plus the TEAC reel to reel. These days $1500 covers the equivalent of that easy!

I made an impulse purchase today at the music store. I did something that I've never done before, which is to buy a thing without hearing it. (I did hear like 15 seconds of it on a phone speaker.)
