@thomasjsn I see you are using Beszel as a monitoring system, so it could be useful for you. Today I found out that #Beszel has a "Heartbeat Monitoring" feature. It could send requests to #HealthChecks with a given interval. You can find it in Settings -> Heartbeat.

@Codebender_Cate Take it one step at a time. For me it was starting with pictures. I installed Immich and moved my family off of Google/Apple for image sync. Then files was next for me, so I selected NextCloud. Then see what you have left going to big tech, rinse and repeat.
Also, I highly recommend an AI programming assistant like Claude Code or OpenAI Codex. It can greatly improve your IT abilities! In the last few months I have setup #Immich, #NextCloud, #Netbird, #UptimeKuma, #ForgeJo, #Authentik, #Pihole, #Beszel, #ActualBudget, #OpenWebUI, #Nfty, and #Tautulli.

Ok, that was kinda premature and stupid panic.
#Beszel agent was not reporting Disk I/O until the recent update. All agents are updating automatically, and that happened just around March 28-30. After that, the data began to flow.
In fact, I have sudden disk issues only with a single #Proxmox node, and it is clearly visible on the IO pressure stall graph. Spikes before May 30 are backups. Then it went crazy.

The latest release of the small and nifty monitoring tool #Beszel merged a pull request from some AI dude who made it using Claude. The merge request's text has the usual embarrassing amount of emojis and it was merged without a lot of back and forth. It adds the ability to notify and send data to external services like healthchecks.io. This feels slightly unnerving to me. Wasn't there a recent post from Brian Krebs about a mass of vulnerabilities introduced that way?

The other day I stumbled across https://beszel.dev/ which looks super nice. Definitely going to put it into my homelab. I started with Grafana, but honestly it's so bloated it feels like the SAP of monitoring 😅

Мониторим OpenWRT c beszel
Всем привет. В статье описана установка клиента beszel-agent_linux для роутера с openwrt на борту. Установка сервера beszel за рамками этой статьи, предполагается что он у вас уже установлен и работает. Для тех кто не знал beszel - минималистичная система мониторинга, состоит из сервера и агентов. Архитектурно это выглядит как ssh сервер (агент) на кастомном порту, к которому по ключу ходит сервер и выполняет команды. Агенты (впрочем как и сервер) могут быть запущены в докере, интерфейс предлагает для этого готовые команды, обе две и докер и обычная инсталляция (по классике, как мы все "любим" sudo curl https://.. | bash). Полностью документация доступна на официальном сайте , не будем ее дублировать. Из приятного, прямо с консоли сервера нам доступна команда для выполнения на конечном устройстве

Potrzebowałem narzędzia, raczej prostego, do monitorowania hostów, których w labie przybywa w tempie znacznym. Nie potrzebowałem funkcjonalności Zabbixa, Netdata to też przerost i pcha dane w sieć. Mały lokalny serwerek zbierający dane od agentów i wyświetlający je w strawnej formie.
No i znalazłem #Beszel
Robi co chciałem, nie żre zasobów, agent łączy się do serwera po ssh lub websocket, fajne.

Das dürfte bestimmt viel einfacher einzurichten sein. Grafana und Prometheus kenne ich von meiner Mastodon-Instanz – das sieht echt kompliziert aus.
Bei #Beszel sind es ja nur zwei Docker-Container, da kann ich dir beim Einrichten gerne helfen.

Was it you, @stephen, who mentioned #Beszel (https://beszel.dev) as a monitoring solution? Thanks if so (if not, hope to thank whoever it was)! Seems to be a perfect fit for the way I run servers, and I've just got it running with a set of servers (to trial it). And wow, it's quite pretty!

Update: I finally found a solution that works really well for my server monitoring needs, #Beszel. Lightweight, easy to set up and the web UI is super screenreader accessible as well. Only part that isn't accessible are the various graphs, but at least you can see the current values for disk usage, network throughput, disk I/O speeds etc. https://beszel.dev
