  19. From our #BIPOC #sisterhood #nonprofit org, #SNIWWOC in #VictoriaBC - Please boost.

Our newest program is here to give BIPOC #menstruators the freedom to be a part of essential activities and not be excluded due to a lack of #MenstrualProducts.

Did you know that up to 70% of menstruators have missed school or work because of their period?

Or that nearly a quarter of Canadian menstruators and a third of menstruators under 25, have reportedly struggled to afford menstrual products for themselves or their dependents?

As an all-women, BIPOC-led and BIPOC-comprised organization, SNIWWOC understands the needs of our community and we are focused on improving their health from a holistic and integrated service model.

With efforts to be #EcoConscious, this program will provide applicants with one #reusable #MenstrualCup to support their period needs.

The #MenstrualFreedom program is funded by The Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem, we thank you for your donation!

    Eligibility:

Black Women, Indigenous Women, and Women of Colour, Transgender, Non-binary, and Two-Spirit community menstruators.

Must make less than the low-income cut-off line, see the table(on website).

A resident of Greater Victoria, BC, Canada.

Finally living with, and understanding, the natural hormones that make up my #MenstrualCycle has transformed my life. I finally have clearer thoughts, more energy, more creativity, way better sex and generally am the happiest I have ever been!

A lot of us observed that after each shot our next few menstrual cycles were worse. Anyone know if the shots have improved at all in terms of those effects? I'm quite anxious about going through that again.

    • Supported UK charities, period poverty groups, schools, colleges and universities with low price or free sustainable period products.
    • Took reusable period products to local farmers markets, eco markets and even to Wallingford Carnival.
    • Went 100% plastic free from July 2017, receiving the Plastic Free Business Champion Gold Award from Surfers Against Sewage in recognition of their efforts to run Earthwise Girls as a plastic free, sustainable business.
    • Successfully ran a successful small, family-business with as small an ecological footprint as possible for many years.

A massive congratulations to Christine, Nora and Earthwise Girls for everything they’ve done. Wishing you the best in your next chapters.

  24. #PeriodPoverty undermines the education of #girls and young #women bit.ly/3YZGOY9
Girls and young women around the world are missing school days, because they lack the resources to adequately manage their #MenstrualHealth and hygiene.
Period poverty also has dangerous & immediate health consequences for girls & young women, pushing them into early and #ForcedMarriages, #SexualAbuse, or female genital mutilation #FGM – because their period is seen as their “coming of age.”
