    The view out the clouded, window on a Long Island Rail Road train.They are sun-damaged from 30+ years.of south facing exposure. (Windows on the north side of the train are much clearer.) The trains run using paired EMUs (electrical motor units) and, apparently, never or very rarely change their orientation. Not sure why that is.

    tell us that much of western is in the throes of a 1,000 year . in the are facing deepening drought conditions putting wheat harvests at risk. reports that wheat harvests there may be the lowest in over 60 years! I've seen like this once before in in 2021. But as an easterner it's easy to rationalize that: "it's the west, the west is subject to forest fires." Long Island is not the west.

    Images of commercial American landscapes are often interpreted within a narrative of a pathology of sickness at the heart of culture. This is a very difficult narrative to get past. When I make an image like this, I'm not saying this is ugly or needs fixing. It's just what I saw and recreated in a way appealing to me. It is what it is and what it came from.
