20 years since this lad disappeared in #Ipswich - slowly some of the truth of what he had got involved in came to light, and that it is almost certain he is no longer alive - but still noone has been nicked for the #crime
This incident, and #murder later in the year of 5 sex workers led to a *massive* clampdown on #nightlife and #partydrugs across #Suffolk and #EastAnglia - which is still present today (and those younger folk whose fun was thwarted as a fallout from these clampdowns are now in middle age, many voting Reform out of spite..)

The Scale: At Snape Maltings, these figures stand like sentinels. Framing the flat, expansive Suffolk landscape through them highlights the contrast between the solid bronze and the airy, open marshland. -
The Pierced Form: Hepworth was one of the first sculptors to "hole" her work. She wanted people to look through the art to the world behind it, effectively making the landscape part of the sculpture itself.
The Texture: The rough, tactile surface in the foreground is meant to mimic natural stone and organic weathering, bridging the gap between man-made art and the wild reeds of the River Alde.

I think the #GreenParty should spin its proposed #SpeedLimit policy slightly differently - and just say "we will reassess all speed limits on #UK #roads, selecting maximums of 50 to 60 mph where appropriate" this enables use of existing road signs and limits that drivers are familiar with, isn't wildly different from what local Councils and #NationalHighways / #TrafficScotland / #TransportForWales are doing anyway, gives #gammons a less obvious headline than unusual 55 mph limit and they don't have that long attention spans..
Incidentally I've now been driving 7 years and even in that relatively short time I've seen multiple rural roads across #Suffolk and #Essex change limits from 60 mph to 40-50 mph - all areas with Conservative Councils!

Once again parts of #OrwellBridge in #Ipswich #Suffolk closed due to rush hour #collision (#car vs #lorry) with one #fatality and one #arrest
if its not possible to quickly reduce #CarDependency (and realistically it is not), nor build the #NorthernBypass - then there's a real need to further encourage #FlexibleWorking and more people to move away from 9-5 working hours - all these crashes seem to happen around rush hour, whereas same #A14 highway is a lot quieter in afternoons and evenings (there's still lorries, but they are more spread out and not so many bottlenecks at the junctions)

Impressive bit of #bicycle commuting from #Colchester to #Stowmarket (not without some personal safety risks - I've ridden the #Suffolk part of that journey myself on various occasions).
Metric first distance in the newspaper confirms he's used to #cycling and outdoor activity (its not uncommon in UK for cyclists to use metric on their navi apps/speed displays)
its quite an achievement (in another interview to GB News which I'm not going to link here he also suggests it was a way of getting over poor lifestyle choices and addictions after leaving the Army), but does also have a worrying overtone of dour #austerity

Not surprised by this - older folk in #Suffolk got what they wanted - they complained bitterly for *3 decades* about loud #music, #booze and #partydrugs and demanded "streets got cleaned up"
Todays youth don't drink as much #alcohol, are more wary of #drugs due to health effects and consequences such as risk of being nicked for #DUI midweek (even if not impaired for #driving but with metabolites still in bloodstream), there's also increased workplace substance testing for those doing safety (or even business) critical work, more long hours/weekend working and young people are still skint anyway.
The #nightlife of the 80s-00s simply isn't coming back in its original form..

Is this a case of "yes, but in *someone else's* back yard?" The proposed location of the repair #garage and that of the "supporter" are in completely opposite ends of town (ironically there's *loads* of #automotive related businesses in IP3 but not as many in IP8/IP2 (if anything this area could do with more!)
Maybe its a dogwhistle against immigrants, but nowadays a repair garage is just as likely to have immigrant workers as vape shops or hairdressers!
